After looking around, I figure I'll get the Cheng Shins. Cant beat the price, for sure. Can get them both for under 100 including shipping.

Kenda also makes tires for it, but wasn't all that familiar with the name, other than they make the tires on my Mongoose mountain bike. The tread pattern looked decent though...and pretty much the same price.

Every Kenda I've bought was out of round. I'll never buy another, I don't even buy their tubes if I can help it. Cheng Shins are ok, just don't buy the Marquis tread style, buy the Hi Max...much mo' bettah. I'm running a Cheng Shin Barracuda on the front of my XS11, great tire but they don't make 'em for XS400 Special.

        the Hi Max

My 80G has them from PO
        Just about worn out now.
Seem to get good milage, but not impressed with traction.
Could be that they’ve just been on the bike too long, but going to try something else soon.

Read most of the tire threads and still not sure what I'm going to try. Got a local shop where the guys are pretty helpful and plan to ask there opinion too.

Yeppers, Jerry.........John's had that bike there for about a year now. I even have a perfect set of matching lowers for that Windjammer that's on it. It wasn't here Thursday, so me thinkin' they finially sold it. If it would've still been there come first of May, I was thinkin bout taking it, as I have the room......

I had the cheng Sings on my special, for about 3 weeks. No traction at all in the wet, I actually low sided twice. Switched to the 501 dunlops, and have been much happier.

No idea if they would fit a 400, tho.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.
