I got mine from the yamaha dealer. Not cheap for a little screw...

I had good success a few years back with machining a new point on a broken screw. Chuck the screwhead in a drillpress and sping it a fairly high speed. Use a combination of files and sandpaper to grind a new point that matches an unbroken one.

strom i tried to get mixture screw #2a2-14923-00-00 from a couple of different sources including MR motorcycle..if you know where i can get one i'd certainly buy one

ken i appreciate the input and actually i had thought about trying what you said "spinning it in a drillpress and shaping " is it going to be that hard to find a new one...i'm assuming you spun yours because you couldn't find one...right now i have it kinda halfass turned down (bench grinder fine stone spinning the needle with my fingers) it's just sensitive as hell to adjustment...i have at least moved it to #1 carb so it will be a breeze if/when i find one....surely someone has some old carbs laying around

The one I spun, I had to do that way because it was for another XSive who came to Revelstoke to get some work done on his bike. Home was 2.5 hours away, it was a weekend, and at that time there was no dealership here. Even now, the nearest dealer with any stock of parts is 2 hours away, and I'd bet money they would not have one of these screws in stock. The advantage of the drillpress wethod over using a bench grinder is the ease of getting a true round shape and taper. Really, it only takes a few minutes to get good results, even going slow and checking frequently.
