  • Viewing OLD product Evaluations!

    Hey folks,

Wanted to mention a glitch "sorta" in the PRODUCT EVALUATIONS Forum!! I just went there, and noticed that there were only 3 products/threads listed, and they were all from 2006!?

I then realized that new replies are not placed there very often, and due to the format on how the forum displays threads, IF there aren't any replies to a thread, after 60 days, it rolls off the default display! SO.....Please select SHOW THREADS from last year to see the previous products and reviews, evals, etc!!

I'll copy this thread to that FORUM, and Sticky it so folks can see how to get to the older inactive evaluations!!

The repair, maint., and mod forums all do the same thing. Perhaps a sticky in all of them might help. There hasn't been a new post in any of them since before I joined.

      Repairs, Maintainance, and Mods.....OH MY!

      Hey Wes,

I just rechecked those, and I think they are already set to default view from the BEGINNING, so I don't think it's needed for them!?

I'll review the Moderator controls for the Product Evals, to see what it take to set it to ALWAYS show from the beginning, since there are only 3 pages of threads, they don't turn over as quickly as the MEMBER's and TECH discussion forums!

After looking at my options, it was set to "last 30 days" in the thread view. I never changed that (at least, as far as I can remember ), so I assume it was by default. It overrid any setting on the forum though. Once I changed it to "from the begining", I could see all the posts in any forum. I do know that I've always had to change it manually every time I've gone to those areas previously.

I'm fairly sure that option can be set globally (for all new users signing up) in Vbulletin. I'm more familiar with PHPbb though. It might be helpful for new users if that option were set to "from the beginning" initially so that everything will be visible to them when they first sign up. Maybe it is and I changed it somehow, too....

Might not hurt to create a new user and check it and see.
