  • Chroming road trip!

Well today I made the mighty trip to Grand Junction, Colorado from my home town of Tooele, Utah. The objective was really quite simple, that is, to deliver some XS1100 parts to be chrome plated. I figured since I'll be traveling over 600 miles in one day alone, I might as well make it fun and take some pictures along the way. With that said, let's begin.

7:24AM I start the day with a nice sunrise over Mt. Timpanogos.

7:49AM One of the boxes of parts riding shotgun.

8:37AM There was still about a foot of snow at Solider Summit between Spanish Fork and Price.

8:50AM I'm just outside of Price. You can't see it in the picture, but on the tall rock in the middle, there is a large American flag.

9:18AM Somewhere between Price and Green River. My god this is a boring drive.

    9:38AM The Tavaputs Plateau.

    9:55AM The Bookcliff mountains.

    10:13AM The LaSal mountains.

    10:18AM This is a nice straight road...Hmm

10:21AM Hey look, it's a passenger train! Nobody seems to believe me, but I've seen these at night in Salt Lake City.

10:27AM Slowing down so I can get a closer look.

10:29AM I bet someone on the train is admiring the beauty of my Chevy Lumina!

10:30AM Making up for lost time! On a side note, the top speed limiter on a 1995 Chevy Lumina 3.1L is 108mph.

10:32AM Sorry this picture is so blurry. The immense power of the Lumina at top speed made it hard to get a clear picture, or my front end is out of alignment...

10:34AM Holy shiznit that was fun! Look at how much I'm smiling!

10:38AM I got a little thirsty after the huge adrenalin rush of hitting top end in the Lumina!

10:40AM What the hell? Apparently dust storms can really get out of hand in these parts!

10:43AM Argh...47 miles still to go

10:44AM Never leave home without these handy items!

10:50AM Can the scenery possibly get any worse?

10:54AM I can almost see Grand Junction!

10:57AM Hey look, a town named after me!

12:19PM At this point, my ass is numb, my back is sore, and I have to piss like a race horse, but I finally made it!

Hmmm.... went faster in my 1993 Renault Clio 1.4 RT with 80HP and 3 other ppl in the car... (194 km/h). It was rock solid. I only hoped that I wouldn't have to brake, coz... it wouldn't.

Why so far to chrome parts? Not as much ass numbing fun, but you could have shipped that little box for a fraction of you fuel cost

Well Grand Junction is the closest place to me that will chrome aluminium. I didn't want to ship it because not only did I have a box of parts, but I had two wheels with me as well

Like the pics!............know exactly where your at in every one!......Have made that trip several times..........and alot of them on my bike. Was thinkin bout ridin up to my sisters in Layton this month, if it would just warm up a bit up there. Thought I'd go up and mount windshields on their two 1400 Intruders while she does my taxes for me...........good trade off I think, plus love the ride no matter where I'm going.
