I am working on a 1984 XJ and now I am in need of some Petcocks. Actually I could get by with a handle. I am attatching a pic of what they look like. Anyone have some they can part with?

You may want to try looking up the handle part number at the Yamaha web site. You could then check some of the 650's of the same years, and maybe get a match. If you do find a match, mikesxs or bikebandit may be able to help.
Just my thoughts...

Just kidden you a bit. I know what you mean by wanting to do it right. I'm just finishing up my second one and buried in it too! I've got a pair of complete pet cocks but don't want to part with them to bad. Like I said I will be out in the shop tomorrow night and will check for you. I'm suprised Andreas has chimed in by now. Hey Andreas got a handle for Cokeman?DEW

If the petcock handle from a 80g will fit, I have one you can have. I replaced my petcocks many years ago, but in keeping with the unwritten rule of don't ever throw anything away, I kept the old ones . Let me digress to the story behind the petcocks. Had one leaking, bought new one from Yamaha dealer @ $80+. Few months later the other side started leaking. Got part number for it. Place I worked for was a Yamaha Generator dealer, found the # in there price list, $39 and change, list price. I put it on my generator parts order just to see if it would fly, it did. Yamaha dealer was doubling the list price of parts. I guess my first clue to walk out the door was when the parts guy said he no listing on his computer for a XS11. Service manager had to straighten him out. When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

Do you plan on refreshing the petcocks with new kits? If you do, here's a helpful little tidbit...Get some fine, 400 or so, sandpaper, and lay it abrasive side up on a flat, smooth surface. (dining room table comes to mind) Take the handle from the petcock, and slide it back and forth on the sandpaper to clean and true the back side of the hadle to ensure it makes a good seal against the rubber disc with the holes on it. If there are any sharp edges on the handle, they will damage the rubber disc, and it may leak.
