Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, "WOW, what a ride !" - Sprung
I really don't think it is. The author does say there's some satire in it, though. It's definately typical of the current Democratic movement, however.....soft and full of pastel colors.
Oh my god, that just makes me laugh....almost broke a stitch.
Yes, we should all share our toys...

My cat likes squirrels. Except for the tail and front teeth, otherwise they're totally eaten. He doesn't share with other cats. He attacks other cats. Don't think he's a Democrat.

I assure you it is no joke. I e-mailed the author of the book and he is quite serious.
From the looks of the sample pages I told the guy he needs to re-title the book "Why Mommy Is A Dependo-crat"

Sad but true. The party is nothing like it was when my grandfather was a "Democrat". He damn sure wasn't a "Mommy's boy" either.
Look real close at the backdrops though on ALL the illustrations. There is always a subliminal message. just like the share toys pic you posted.
See the "poooooor" homeless man on the park bench with his hat held out. I think he needs booze money. Any way the pic illustrates a fat cat and a rich lady with a poodle (why does the stereotypical rich lady ALWAYS have a poodle?)
Anyway it's obvious the "bad rich people" aren't sharing their toys. Can you make out the headline on the news paper...something about "TAX BREAKS" or some BS.
I suppose the Democrats will make those bad rich people share their toys...JUST LIKE MOMMY DOES!
It's sad but true. If the Democratic party doesn't shed this flakey radical image they have and get rid of the goofballs in the party...they will go the way of the Whigs. And that ain't good IMO. We're already short on political choices. We don't need a one party nation.

The Republicans could stand to do the same thing, sadly. The majority of people in both parties (the moderates) have no real voice in their respective parties anymore.
If the Dems choose a viable candidate, I can't imagine them not winning in '08.
I'm tired of always having to choose between the lesser of two evils though. Maybe one day....

JW I couldn't agree with you more. However on specifics we likely disagree totally.
I have written an analogy of our current political situation. It is very cynical and goes something like this:
Imagine if you will the nation is a train. This train is headed rapidly down the track. Up ahead is a great chasm the train will certainly plunge into resulting in the utter destruction...unraveling if you will...of this great nation.
When the Republicans are in control we are flying down that track straight toward the impending doom at 80 mph!
When the Democrats are at the helm we are screaming down the track at 200 mph!
No one's changing directions or tracks it's just that the Republicans in general are slower in the "progression". Thus they are more conservative in their "speed". But have no doubt they are basically headed down the same path.
So I generally (not always) vote Republican in the hopes I'll be dead and gone before the crash.
We simply can not keep going down this path ... the path of creating governement policies and programs as a vote buying scheme and expect to survive in the long run.
Sadly I must admit I don't have the solution. The two party system is entrenched and I don't see much hope of a third party ever rearing it's head.

Unfortunately I agree
seems our politicians really don't care about the future, just their immediate goal of staying/acquiring power.
Can't name a single individual I would call a statesman.
I think our national "reps" just have too much time on there hands, and not held to a high enough standard.
I tend to vote Reublican myself. I'm not a big fan of Socialism. It's all about the candidate though. Like I said, always the lesser of the two evils. Bill Clinton looked pretty good compared to his competition, evem though I didn't care for him much....but then again, same with Bush
Your analogy is quite correct. Both ways lead to doom.
I wish I could say I had a solution myself. What's it's really going to take to make a viable 3rd party is a charismatic leader to rally the people behind. Even the Dems can't find one of those...
If they run Hillary in '08 they can pretty much write themselves off for the next eight, I believe. I really don't think that even Bush-hate will be enough to get her elected. I sure as hell wouldn't vote for her.
Maybe it's sexist, but the idea of a woman in the WH scares me to death. Mommy really would be trying to make us share.

I agree MRO. They're not held to any standard at all.
I keep hearing all these stories about wiretapping and who I really think we should be wiretapping are all the politicians. Full disclosure, all the time. Let the sack's o' crap try to do something then!
