Exhaust Part Needed

Does anyone have an old set of stock pipes for 80 Special (maybe the standard has the same heat shields) that are no good but may have the heat shields on them. I lost the shield off the right side of my pipes recently because t he nut that holds it on the exhaust pipe broke the weld and the heat shield vibrated off.

Any assistance would be appreciated. I have emailed several individuals that were listed in the forum but haven't not heard anything yet.

Check the german ebay (www.ebay.de) every once in a while. They used to come up quite frequently. Just the heatshields.

I was scrolling thru the 17 Pages of parts on Ebay, and saw someone selling the heat shields, you might want to check it out if you still need one?!

Hi Ed,
no help here, but your post has explained something.
I got my XS11SG in a sorry shape and have always thought that
the rusty non chromed transition zone with a weld in the middle between the pipe & the muffler indicated a PO's muffler swap.
Your post makes me think it's just that my bike is also missing a pair of heat shields. It also explains the welded-on nut.
My fix was to fizz the transition with matte black BBQ paint.
