        200 days

On mature consideration, shaving one's face every day has to be the world's most useless thing to do. How many men shave their heads every day? And if not, why not? While getting a haircut is the norm, getting a beard trim is a minority action and almost every man is driven by custom, fashion, peer pressure or whatever other reason to keep shaving his face.
Multiplying the time I have been shaving by how long each shave takes; my trusty calculator sez I have been shaving for 200 days straight.
And some men sneer at women for the time they spend putting on makeup.
But still I keep on shaving.
        Ah well.

Sure, but women spend even more time shaving...lathering their legs...running the razor delicately over their shapely calves, up their thighs, rinsing and re-lathering, pulling the skin taut, smoothing the skin with manicured fingers...deciding what to shave and what to leave intact...umm, I'll be back in a few minutes...

While LoHo is taking a cold shower

                  OK then,
One valid reason for a close shave.
Whiskers or beard stubble allow breathing masks to leak around the edges.
Better to spend 15 minutes in the morning getting a close shave than spend a workshift breathing in organic vapors, asbestos dust, carcinogens, radiactive particulate or whatever else the mask is supposed to be protecting you from.

                      Hey Fred,

It may be a useless process for you, but I'm not allowed to give SWMBO mustache rides if the "Saddle" is too rough!
In other words, No Trim = NO TRIM!!

SO...I usually hit the stubble on Saturday night, and take a rest on Sunday before back to Monday morning regimen!

                        fusion review

broke open the new powered fusion this morning. pretty simple operation to insert the battery and get it going. it had a rather large flexible head. it connects to the handle in a odd way almost cumbersome to attach a new shaving head. there is a rubber strip below the blades. using a name brand creme it shaves pretty well. not a whole lot different from the m3. i think it does a little better job. i usually have trouble with getting my neck smooth but 1 pass done the trick. the single blade on back is intersting but didn't perform as well as i had expected. overall i would have to say its the best disposable i've ever used. i prefer an electric however they tend to burn my neck with or without preshave. i would recommend everyone go immediately to walmart and buy one. if you play your cards right by leaving it in the proper place it just might turn out to be the smoothest kitty you ever kiss.

                          OK, 2 reasons

                          Hi kf4anm,
I must concur. Smoothieface gets lucky, silkybeard wakes up smiling but stubblechin sleeps alone.

I'm cheap, have a full beard and rarely change things that work. Still using the old blue handle 2-blade Gillete Good News to trim my neck once a week. I buy them in huge bags at Costco for peanuts about once every 3 years. Whenever I get one of the whiz-bang multi-blade razors in the mail as a sample, I use it, but spending $25 for razor blades ain't very far up on my priority list.

                                Sikhs in space

On the subject of shaving, as a visible part of their faith
Sikhs don't shave or get haircuts and must wear turbans.
No dafter than many another article of faith and good luck to all true believers of all religions everwhere.
But not every Sikh is a simple grain farmer in India or a crazy taxi driver in New York.
Some are employed in industries that commonly require workers to wear breathing apparatus &/or protective head gear that someone wearing a turban and a beard just can't use.
Motorcycle riding Sikhs in the UK who refuse to give up the turban are excused the British helmet law. Apart from that, anyone know how they cope?
