I'm using the Mach 3 and pretty happy with it. I think 2 more is just two more chance for SWMBO to activate the Life Insurance Policy. "I don't know Officer, he was shaving and the Dog ran by..."

I haven't used the Mach 3, but have been using the 3 bladed Sensor for years. Another Ebay thing... razor blades. I recently bought 84 Sensor triple blades for around 24 bucks including shipping! Good hunting!

I use the mach 3. blades last maybe a week if I'm lucky. about a month ago my 7 month old was sitting on the floor watching me shave and she made a cute sound while I was shaving the upper lip. I smiled and snick three perfectly parallel lines cut into my lip. maybe a single blade would be better...

That five-blade razor is pretty nifty:
The first blade pulls the whisker
The second blad nicks it off close
The third blade scrapes off the stubble
The fourth blade gouges out the pore
and the fifth blade squeegees up the blood..."Time is the greatest teacher; unfortunately, it kills all of its students."

Sorry, have an old 3-headed Norelco electric that I've had for probably 30 years or so...does an excellent job. Only trouble is I have to go to the company web page to order new shaving heads, they are no longer an off-the-shelf replacement item.
Before that I used the double-blade type...one where you twisted the handle, the top opened and you dropped in a double-edged blade. Euphamistically called a "Safety Razor". Still available, see:

Don't shave. having a neard makes life simpler. Cept it's just one more place for the grey to show up. At least my face isn't going bald. My wife asked what am I going to do when all the hair finally falls out. I told either polish it or get a toupee, but I want one with a chin strap, rear-view mirror and a built in I-POD78E ... Rolls Razor
I use a Mach3 but my dad used a Rolls Razor.
It had a short length of cut-throat blade on a T-handle and a rudimentary guard that limited the depth you could cut yourself.
Came in it's own little case with hone & strop built in.
Tried for one at an auction for nostalgia's sake but the price escalated far beyond nostalgia's worth.
This e-bay link has nice photos:-

I started with a single edge Gem like my dad had. The same kind of blades that go in a box-cutter but better quality. Then I went to a really nice old 1920s gold-plated Gillette with a gold-plated travel case with purple velvet lining that I bought in a thrift store in the early '60s. Had a little gold blade box inside the case. It had comb style guards instead of bars and you could cut yourself pretty good if you weren't paying close attention but the shave was really smooth and close. I used a brand new Wilkinson blade every day and a lather brush and an old mug which I threw my old used up soap bars in. Then I gave up shaving entirely around 1969.
I'd probably look like a member of ZZ Top by now if SWMBO hadn't gotten weary of the beard. Guess I embarrased her in front of her relatives. I've reached a compromise and have a little trimmed beard now but she's always bugging me to shave it off too. It's a lot more trouble having a trimmed beard than being clean shaven or having a full beard. I use a Norelco 3 head shaver now unless I need some good lovin' then I break out the Mach 3 and the Barbasol. Wish the airline hadn't lost my old gold Gillette (along with my suitcase). They don't make razors like that anymore...smooth as a baby's bottom!Shiny side up,

non-interchangability
As I posted before, I use a Gillette MachIII. Before that it was a Gillette Atra. I would still be using the Atra but it got left behind when we went on a trip so had to deke into the nearest store and chose to upgrade while I had the excuse. while my youngest boy was still at home I got the latest multi-blade Schick to put in his Christmas stocking. Not that I reckon there's much of a difference between Gillette and Schick but it sure stopped the little beggar swiping my blades.

I'll stick with my good ol" track II. I've tried the three blades, good shave but just didn't care for it. Years ago when I joined the Army, I used the old double sided single edge blade, metal handled. Had a dampner/adjuster at the base of the handle to adjust the tension on the blade. I liked my Braun rechargable but I've went through three foil heads in the last 10 years. Hard to find the replacements. soooo,,,, gonna buy a new one this summer. I think I'll try the new 57 blade, electric, rotating vibrato,
that can be used in the shower or on the go. One swipe on each side and your done.S.R.Czekus

The cutting edge(s)
So we are up to what? 5 blades going on 6?
To take this to it's logical extreme, where do we go next?
Wet'n'dry paper! 400 grit or finer for the sissies, real men will use 180 grit or rougher. Real men wouldn't use soap neither except that dry sanding clogs the paper so.
