I have a G also, and need a left side panel. Be aware that the left side has ROUND mounting holes on the top, and is so far as I tell, pretty rare. The right panel has the typical slots.

If your really desperate, and I'm getting close, Merriam will make you up a fiberglass set for $200 each. It says something like $179 on their website, but when I talked to Bob the price was $199.

On Ebay, some of the side are going for not a whole lot less the that.

        G Seat

I baught a seat on Ebay to replace the one I have. I would be willing to trade for a "G" rear chrome grab bar? Grab bar is not any use without a seat anyway? I don't know what shipping would cost to England but I could let it go for say $50.00 plus shipping? It's got sweat stains on the forward riders perch from PO. No tears or rips except the two holes where the emblem mounts on the back (emblem missing), no diamond tuck and roll just smooth vinyl with leather grain look. No rust on seat pan. It's comfortable enough and includes seat bolt hardware. PM me if interested.

          sidepanels

In a scarcity situation You hasta do what you has to do.
If all you can find is the wrong sidepanels Mr Bodger can fix 'em.
(They don't even need to match, who can see both sides at once?)
If you got slots & need holes or vice-versa, Reinforce the inside where the attachment lugs fit with a strip of aluminum sheet pop-riveted in. Then take a Dremel tool to make the correct perforations for the bike.
Fitted a rightside '79 Standard panel to my '80 Special like that and it fits perfectly.

There's many sidecovers on Ebay right now. A glut of them, if you will. Including a NOS set of Special's in Black. <drool>
