I play the bass a little bit. Play every Sunday at church. Play with our church youth group on most Wednesday nights. Never had any real training, we had a small band at church about a year ago and they needed someone to play bass. I said I would give it a try and have been working at it ever since. We played as a band for a while - played a couple of local concerts and stuff, nothing real big. I'm still not very good, I don't get to play a whole lot. I usually just play the root of the chord and I usually have to have it written out for me to know what to play, but I can usually play whatever I need to if I have the chords in front of me. I have a Peavey Millenium BXP in translucent blue quilt top with a Behringer 60 watt amp. I'd really love to get a better amp, but can't see spending a lot of money since I don't really get to play that much.

      You could post it here....

      http://www.savefile.com/index.php

check it out, it's totally free. post any file, that's not copywrited of course, up to 60 mb, give the url to people to download it.
It stays there until there's ever a span of 14 days that it's NOT downloaded. Then they erase it.

        Nadine

Just uploaded this song to savefile, here's the link: http://savefile.com/projects/533195

        Title...Nadine (Chuck Berry)
        Personnel:

Harmony vocal, lead guitar - Mike Wilhelm
        Piano - David Neft

Glad you like it. I can't play without fingerpicks and a Bigsby tailpiece.

You have a perverse mind mro.

Bigsby was a guy who made custom aluminum parts for motorcycles. He got into guitar making, in fact he came up with the headstock design later copied by Leo Fender. He invented a tailpiece that has a lever that allows you to raise or lower ("bend") the pitch of the strings or make a vibrato sound so you can imitate the sound of a steel guitar. On this polaroid of one of my old stage rigs (taken at Goldstar Recording in Hollywood) you can see that the guitars in the center and on the right have the Bigsby patented tailpiece at the bottom with the lever extending up alongside the strings.

This lever has become known as a "whammy bar". There are many vibrato tailpieces made now but nothing works as well as the original "Bigsby".

Been a musician since I was about 14. Played drums in various rock/pop/metal/punk bands growing up in AZ, then later moved to austin where I continued the same. A long, cold, impoverished 6 month tour of the east coast taught me how much of an independant homebody i really am. Got my name on a few cd's, got some radio airplay, played a crapload of gigs(once played Notre Dame of Maryland-an all girl's catholic college-SWEET), I suppose I was semi-pro for a bit. Now I play acoustic guitar and sing in my den for an unappreciative audience of my cats(black Alvarez-shockingly good quality for not much $$). A few of you all have some impressive resumes. (say it like napoleon dynamite)- LUCKY!!!!

I'd count you amongst the "retired" pros portero. You live in a town that's really got a lot of great musicians.

Been playing guitar since I was 7 or 8 (back in the 70's). I have a strat for blues stuff, and an Ibanez RG for metal. Not going to toot my own horn as for the bands I've been in.
