Our bikes being as old as they are, and most of the parts being discontinued or a rip off from Yamaha, leaves us doing a lot of ebay hunting. I personally peruse the new ebay listings almost daily just in case one of those hard-to-find parts like an '81 R side covers pops up.
A lot of times, people only list their stuff as "xs1100", or "xs 1100", or even "xs eleven". Not knowing all the tricks, I used to first search "xs1100", then another search for "xs 1100", and then if I had time another search for "xs eleven", all the while having to look through all the ones I had seen in previous searches.
Untill now! This maybe old news for some people, but for me it is a new, awesome, time saving trick. You can search all at once by typing
(xs1100,xs 1100,xs eleven)
in the search box. You can do it for anything, obviously, they key is the parenthesies on the ends and NO SPACES after the commas.
You can also use it to search a specific item by typing it as
(xs1100,xs 1100,xs eleven) side cover
to find hits for side covers with any or all of the other titles. I even have the results bookmarked for newly listed items.
This saved me a lot of time recently while trying to find some carbs for my friends '77 kz1000 at a decent price. It shares carbs with the kz900 and Z1 as well. So, I would just type in
(kz1000,kz 1000,kz900,kz 900, z1) carbs
and see all the results in one search.
I hope this isn't old new to everyone else, and hope it helps in the eternal searching for new or better condition parts
