Garage heating?

I have a wood stove in my garage
but it takes so long to get it up to temp
so i hung plastic inside the garage and basically built a small room, which i heat with a k-1 heater
takes about 10 minutes to warm up on a zero day


on a day like this


from the outside of the plastic room

inside the room 70-75 degrees




the heater i use
works for me
but i wouldn't paint with a spray in there

You had linked the "Thumbnails", the picture with a "-T" at the end of the name, and also had used the URL code instead of the IMG code. When you upload your photo to Photodump, copy the line that says IMG, not URL and then paste that into a message here and it will display the entire photo!

Hey XSWilly... How long have you had that homemade front end hoist and not told anybody about it? Now that's creative. Easy to change tires, fork seals and steering bearings and such.
I'm sure others would like to take advantage of your genius and make their own "Willy Lift". How 'bout more pictures? What are the dimensions? How high does it lift?
I note that the cross member is touching the frame. I can imagine that this one was the prototype. If you built another, would you make it higher?
A crossmember for the bottom of the legs would add structural stability. Obviously it couldn't be welded, as then you'd not be able to get the bike on without having to "roll through" it. How about a section of square tubing with brackets welded to it, that fits between the uprights and bolts to them? It looks like you have wingnuts on the threaded rods to raise and lower the bike. would a nut, with a say, 6" of steel rod welded to it make a better turning lever?
Damn it, man... I want answers!

glad you like the lift i built
the table lift i built from the website afabonline.com
works great.
then i built the "U" shaped lift in order to lift the wheels off of the table

if i buillt another one i would go about 6 to 8 inches taller
but this works good so far

i do use treaded rod to do the lifting, for most cases, the tire only needs to be 1 inch off of the table

but my main concern was to be stable and not let the bike fall sideways, thats why i didn't go with a jack under the bike

its 2" x 3/16 angle iron
it doesn't need any more bracing, i originally used my homemade wing nuts. but then changed to regular nuts and use a wrench
i drilled holes along the top to be able to position the hangers where i want

well my new year was great i got the bikes into the garage and got mine running again and it ran like a bat out of hell but as far as the heating goes i am using a kerosine heater and the garage is nice in warm in about a hour of running so that is what i would racomond

Heat with light ...

I have a few clamp-anywhere heat lamps. You know, the type with a big clip attached to 'em that you squeeze with your hand.
I like to attach them to an upright on my storage shelves, an open ceiling joist, or even a place on the bike (careful, don't get it too close to something you love!)
I like to clamp 'em down, then shine them on me and my work as needed.
