Don't know if any of you check this site out, but for those who are looking for "project" bikes, this may be a source...

    Salvage vehicles

This company sells damaged and insurance claim vehicles around the country. A few have clear titles, most have salvage certificates, some are parts only.

I've got that site bookmarked now. Thanks.

Some of the bikes I looked at seem to be easily fixable. I've owned a couple of salvage bikes in the past, one was my daily commuter (60 miles/day) for several years. I only had $350 bucks into it including repair parts. Didn't look too hot but it functioned fine. I actually sold it for $600. Even not fixable if you've got room for it a part-out could make you some good money.

XS1100SF "Rusty", runs great, 96k miles
XS650SJ "The Black Bike", engine from XS650H with 750cc big bore kit, 30k miles

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, "WOW, what a ride !" - Sprung

Thanks for putting the link up. I checked it over and wish I was running that business. They do not seem to actually have the bikes. They post pics of bikes still owned by the insurance company and if you are highest bidder they make an offer on your behalf. If the insurance company takes it you get the bike, and you pay this company gets $300 for handling the transaction. They do have a great link that I think someone was looking for. There is a page of links to find out what is needed to retitle a salvage vehicle in most of the states.

I bought a 99 venture salvage bike from these guys on ebay:

It was a pretty good deal and I would do it again
I have a bike and I am not afraid to use it
