Will a 1978 XS1100 "E" service manual work for a 1980 "SG" model? Bought one off ebay thinking it was a 1980 version but it is a 1978 "E" service manual!! I know there's differences of the models and have the supplement version for the '80!!

The manuals all contain the same chapters concerning the basics of the bike. The supplements were released to address the specific differences between the years of bikes. Changes were made from year to year with the 1981LH MNS being different from all the XS1100's regarding the braking system. Like Marty said you should be fine.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

If you can get the PDF from a known private party, such as offered by Ray, you'll be better off. For some odd reason "manual" websites are quite often infected and are a great way to download some nasty virus onto your computer. A number of friends have suffered this fate.
