Thanks for the compliments. It looks better in the pictures than in real life. I hope to pull the motor and do some serious restoration paint in the next year or two.

If you've ever watched ER or any hospital show, look at the oxygen mask they use. That's what I'm using only it's what they use for breathing treatments so the hose is 1" diameter. The hose hangs down by my chin so my breath exits (and enters) outside the helmet preventing fogging.

The tires are Dunlop K501 Arrowmax. Some forum members like them, I don't. Looks good but I slip on the corners (could be the fault of my right hand).

I swapped the buckhorns for 'superbike' bars off Ebay.

I haven't had problems with septic trucks but livestock trailers have been an issue.

I need to replace mine also and plan to make my own to make it a little higher. You see I am 6' 7" tall with size 17 shoes. I am an Extra Amateur Radio Operator with a dual bander on my bike and want the quiet to make myself herard easier. I just have to figure out how to get the Vetter Windjammer V piece off of it that goes around the headlight so that I can get the plastic bolts out to get the windshield off.

        Gold in Modesto?

        Hi Pat Kelly

        Question

Gold on your LG, original or have you repair/repainted it.

Also grab bar is cool, missing on my LG.

You want to be able to look over it. If something should coat the windshield (leaking septic truck,
Uumm... it's times like that that I'd rather be hunkered down behind it. Most shields that I install call for eye level one or two inches above the screen. Probably due to the visual blockage caused by the top edge of the plastic, which can be annoying. If it's set too high, you might not be able to see over it if something suddenly coats the screen.
Mine's set to barely see over it. Just enough for when I'm behind a gravel truck, I can slouch down a little, placing the screen between my eyes and his rock-throwin' tires, but can still look over it at most of the road.

As my windshield is now, I am looking quite a ways over the top of it now. It is not easy being a friendly giant.

We'll have to meet-up for a ride. We're only an hour apart.

sounds good to me. I'll have to ride the 80G though.

Missing a lot a parts on the LG and plan to remove engine and start from the frame up. Could be 6 months before ride-able.

Should be good weather soon. Maybe next week or so?
Will finish adjusting valves on the G Monday or Tuesday (time permits)

If you two go, you'll need a standard for a "yard stick". If I can make it with only 3, 4 ,and 5th gears, I'll go. I hope to have my new transmission in for the new year.

                      A question about windshields.

I put a purple Hellcat on mine for a reasonable price from Dennis Kirk. The hardware is really nice looking and it fits great.

I just installed a National Cycle Plexifairing III on my 80SG. I love it. It is the model with the lower extensions to deflect the wind from your legs. Very little distortion, and that's only on the sides. The view straight ahead is very clear, and when looking through it , and then over it quickly, there is no 'jumping around' of the image you see. It was easy to install, and took about thirty minutes to get it on and tweaked in. I ordered it from JCWimpy and it cost about $150. Just what I was looking for to replace the one that was shattered in the accident. When I get dressed, and off my butt, I'l put up some pics of it.

Put that same Plex III on SWMOBs Virago. She loves it.

Hey Pat, have you tried to swap one of the 750 tanks onto an 1100? I discussed it here a while ago, but I was just wondering if it has been tried by someone other than me, and did they have any success. If I remember, the capacity was larger than that of an 1100.

When the windshield in my fairing broke off at the bottom, I just cut me a new one out of a sheet of plexiglass that I picked up a Lowes. It worked like a champ. Doing that way, I had the option of making the windshield a little longer so the top of it wasn't level with my point of view ... and it was a whole lot cheaper than buying a replacment windshield.

I haven't tried but they are different enough that it would be too much work for me to do.
My plan is to (eventually) put my 6.5 gal tank on the E and put the std tank on the LG after painting it pink... I mean black . I know, some don't like the std tank on a special. Thye black tank will be for the occasional day-long cruise on the LG. Rest of the time I'll run the stock LG tank.
