Do carb boots gasket need sealant too?

Hi folks, just putting a better set of carb boots on the Special to replace old cracked ones. Just wondering if in addition to the paper type gaskets, I should smear some sealant to help make a good seal?
    any thoughts?. Much Appreciated.

Most of us just put Yamabond, a non-hardening sealer, on the boots WITHOUT gaskets. Any good non-hardening, gas proof sealer is all you really need.

Yes, I always omit the paper gaskets and use RTV instead. The paper has been proven to fail for many, creating an air leak.

3rd vote for no gasket and Yamabond/RTV. Very thin. Like the amount of adhesive on a sticker. You are not frosting a cake.

And of course, no Chinese rubber!
