Guten Morgen und hallo zusammen! Just a quick intro. I am new here, but not new to the XS1100 community. I joined in April 1978 when my dad bought the 41st XS1100 (2H9) ever made. So, this all happened in Germany, where I was born and am originally from: My dad and I rode motorcycles, as did both of my sisters and my brother. After the war he rode and NSU Max cause he couldn't afford a car. Later when he got married and did better the motorcycle went away and the kids came. In 1973 he bought a Laverda 750SF that he rode until 1975 when he bought a 73 R90S. i started in 1977 on a GT250. Later in 1977 I traded the GT250 for a '75 Reimo-Suzuki GT750 and in early 1978 I took over my dad's '73 BMW R90S when he decided to get the just launched XS1100. I remember like yesterday when we went to the dealer together and he rode off with a brand new 1978 XS1100 in silver. It was actually a grey import bike with the VIN 2H9-00142. We did many trips together and I rode the R90S until he lost somewhat interest in riding in 1982 and I sold my R90S and took the XS over. From 84 to 89 I was in college and there was little time to ride and in 1990 I moved to the US. My dad put the XS1100 in the barn and it has not run for almost 40 years. It only has 18421 km on the odo, but would need a full disassembly and restoration and I can't do that from here. I am only interested in the XS1100 Standard. The other models are not my thing at all, except the XS 1.1S which was never sold here in the US. I looked for years for an early (78or79) XS in good shape that I could add to my other bikes and finally found one. A 78/79F model with only 9000 miles. Below are pictures of my 2H9 in Germany when she was new and my recent acquisition the 2H7. Currently my other bikes are a 2023 MT-10 and a '23 KTM 890 Duke R. My son rides a 790 Duke and my new XS is my project to perfect and cherish.
