Does anyone know if there is a source to get new brake caliper pistons for the xs1100? Also are the pistons the same for special and standard. Reason I am asking is I need new ones for my old 79f standard. If there is no known source I am planning on having some made out of stainless steel via CNC machine. Certainly would make a large enough order to lower cost and offer the rest to any others that need them.

Yeah, the 650 used the same diameter rotor as the 1100. The triples used a smaller rotor for some odd reason. The triple Specials use the same caliper as the 650, and 1100 Specials. The front caliper piston for a special is not available anywhere, but like Randy said, the Standard pistons are available from Mikesxs. All three calipers on the standard use the same piston. The specials rear caliper uses a standard piston. I had 20 new stainless pistions for the front calipers machined back in May, so I could build up a spare brake system, and sell a few to members that needed some.

Ok, one last question.I am assuming from looking at mikexs that I can buy brake pad kit, bleeder, pistons, boot(caliper slider boot) master cylinder (front) lock tabs, caliper seal kit and discs for the 650 and use on my xs1100? From the pictures on site they look like identical parts for the xs1100.

Andreas, you can check at Yama Mamma's on line catalog and compare different years' part numbers. You'd be suprised at how many parts are just off the shelf and used on many different models.

Hey Andreas,
Partsnmore also sells them, similar pricing, but they are only for the Standards front and rear, or the Specials REARS, not the fronts! John, glad you told him the part # for MikesXS, cause they also carry the older 650 style caliper pistons, wouldn't want to get the wrong part!!!
