  • Midnight Special Touring Edition

Finally got them painted up and stuck on for the winter! Still going to wet sand and compound at some point as the front section does have a bit of orange peel, the leg skirts/bottom sections dried much flatter and probably won't need it.

Next project is modifying the brackets for the hard cases (standard vs special things), got the whole set from another member

Nice! You have the "one year only" Pacifico fairing on that! You may not know this, but it IS a little faster with that fairing over the Vetter, as the shape is better through the air. On a Standard, I've seen a difference of about 2 MPG between the two, and that was on the same bike.

Haven't ridden one with the Vetter fairing, but I have taken this one up and down 95 at some slightly higher than legal speeds and boy did it glide through the air. It was like sitting in your own bubble of serenity

Yeah, my favorite fairing. The factory burned down late '78, and Yamaha went to Vetter after that. Craig designed a nice touring kit, but I still like being behind the Pacifico over any other fairing I've had on any bike. This includes a Kawasaki 1400 Conni, R1200rt, and Ranger fairings. Yeah, I'm that old...
