  • Rally of sorts

whats the interest of a git together for a weekend of drag racing and a few fun runs in the county? All this recent talk of who's dusting what and who at the stop and go lights is crazy. we need a rally? of some sort to put it on paper if you will to settle who's bad and who talkin $hit... . I didn't want to walk on the other posts to much with this. we have a drag strip with either camping or hotel motels within 20 miles of strip, not to mention nice country riding (not a lot of twisties but good old farm lands and animals and such.)

MIYAMI and I would love to attend but I doubt if were gonna ride to IL this time of year. I've already spent my time off days ( PTO ) and am pretty much tied down till later spring of 06. Sounds like a good ride though and alot of fun.

              one mans vision

didn't really mean this year of coarse.. . Southern wisconsin is the place, called union grove wisconsin. The track is great lakes dragway (they have a web site, try Great lakes dragway.com ?) Like i said just wondering of interest as of now. Never really tried to put anything together like this before. So imput is good.. I will have to check with the track , i'm also thinking they will allow camping at the track (very crude of coarse). So keep the comments coming (suggestions also). If this thread gets outta hand maybe should put it in the rallies section?

Sounds great! I'd be glad to help wherever needed. No experience with anything like this ether, but an extra body never hurts. I'm sure I could wrangle up a handful of fellow degenerates to assist as well.

                  DP ,Bandit

thanks for the support. And actually there is always route66 dragway down in joilet, little closer to you DP. though that is a brand new facility probly a little more funds to go to , but a very nice place (been there for the nhra nationals a few times.) Heres my thoughts..get together early sat. spend the day at the track testing and tuning ,racing each other whatever.camp out Then on sunday go for 100-150 mile putt around the country side stop off for some eats before we all go our merry ways? I know it's kinda hard for some folks but i really like to meet some other members also and a lot of the rallys are just outta reach for myself. Who knows could be the next best thing to sliced bread?

I would be interested in a shindig, although G.D. and I aren't exactly fast and furious. But we do like to camp. The location sounds good as I am in central Iowa and have family in S. Wisconsin. Keep us updated.

I think Great Lakes would probably be more fun and in my opinion it's much prettier country nearby in comparison to Joliet. Not to mention 50 years of history to it. We should see if we can get the bikes in on one of the beat the heat races. I've always been tempted to run when I see a squad car in the rear view. Without the radios, it would be no contest. I've either got to much respect or like my freedom too much. Haven't decided yet.

                          Sounds like fun...

I might have to pack my bags and SWMBO on the Mistress and head up that way myself. If the weather's nice enough, I should be able to head out of here Friday and make it in good time for a Saturday meet-and-greet. Keep me posted on the when and I'll pitch the idea to SWMBO and start preping her for the ride.

Sounds good Chevy. You can count me in too. Just north of Madison,WI here. I like the fact of having it near a track whether a guy would want to run or not. Yes there is alot of great countryside around there. I'd be glad to help as well. With anything like this the hardest part is setting up a "good" day. I've set up small rallies for classic cars, but the main difference, one that I like, is the mileage that is put on in bike rally. No time like the present to get the ball rolling for next season.

well anytime will work for me i am game but if you are going to do a drag race and ride event you need to make it like a night race event where the bikes run there best and with cooler air make more power and then camp that night then wake up to nice breakfest and start riding the day away
