Jim, Nice job on the barn find. I remember seeing the "I just dragged it out of a barn" post on the FB site, good deal that you scored it.

It really was mechanically sound. Just needed the cosmetics to make it presentable again. It is the first picture that I posted. Should have clarified that in my original post. If anyone is interested I had to recover the seat and that cover you are looking at in the pictures was purchased from an Ebay seller from Thailand. Very good quality cover and relatively cheap. I bought two from him/her for less then $125.00. Was fairly easy to install. They provided enough extra material along the edges to make the install very easy. Obviously I in no way endorse this vendor but if anyone is interested..... [A805] YAMAHA XS1100 LG/LH MIDNIGHT SPECIALS 1980 '80 1981 '81 SEAT COVER [YRCA] | eBay

LOL... yeah for sure, but I still love my HD night train. For a Harley it has been a very reliable bike. Next year it will actually be twenty years old and other then my laying it down 1 time it has never given me a moments problem. When I want to take a relaxing ride I generally hop on it. It truly is a geezer bike. Of course... soon to be 65.. .I qualify as a geezer.

Thanks Cajun, I am looking forward to the new challenge. I'm going to take my time as it will likely be my last project. I wanted to make it a good one!
