new turn signals and lense

ok i am a younger rider i am only 23 and my bike is a 79 xs1100 standard. i am looking at replacing the turnsignals and lense but what i want are either clear or smoke lenses and i have seen then some where but cant remeber where and i need to replace the turn signals to since somebody put the wrong bulb in then they got to hot and melted pard of the assembley , the reason i am looking for the smokes or clear is i think they will look good with my paint job i am doing to the bike right now

Hey Bandet01,

DK doesn't show any chromed replacement rectangular lights, and they are having a CLOSEOUT sale on their clear lenses for the rectangular light fixtures.

www.partsnmore.com has the rectangular lights, and stalks. And you can get LED bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com. You can get the kind that fit the 1156 or 1157 socket style, or you can do like I showed in the tech tips, but with just converting some rectangular shaped AMBER marking lights in the shells for turn signals!?

i am thinking about getting some carbon fiber with smoked lense and led bulbs is the anything i am going to have to change to make they led bulbs work right

You just need to get an Electronic Flasher, the OEM flash unit won't sense enough current draw to heat it to work. You'll loose your self cancelling feature, but the turn signals will work with the LEDs!

ok cool i am thinking of going with the one i found in one of my magazines today, so when i change over to the led lights will my headlight be brighter or could you tell a differance

The headlight did not dim when putting on the brakes, and having the turn signals going vs. the old bulbs!!

I would avoid trunsignals from Parts&more. I bought a couple and the fell apart before I could get them mounted on the bike. They're the worst new bike parts I've ever bought.
