Had shot #1 yesterday at the Boise VA. They are using the Moderna and I've had no pain or reaction to it. The flue shot last fall hurt for two days, so this is good. My niece said that her nurse friends had the Pfizer shot, and it did hurt for a few days!

If you served in the armed forces, just go to any VA facility and sign up. The VA is doing the rollout the way it should have been done.

I had my second dose of the Pfizer one on the 6th. I had no reaction to the first dose but for the second dose about 12 hours after getting it I woke up and I was just really achy and sore. Had a fever pushing up to about 102 at times from about hour 16 to 40. I never really felt sickly but just hurt and had a fever, if that makes sense.

I work as part of a hospital group despite being in an outpatient clinic environment, we work in DIRECT patient contact, and so we were all offered the vaccine. I got my 2nd/booster Pfizer shot last Friday, had just a very slight soreness in arm, really hard to tell I had a shot. The initial shot made my arm sore for a day or so. So glad I have been able to get it, with both 93 y/o mom and 70 y/o wife with cancer at home.
Hope everyone that is willing to get one can get one soon. They/gov't is realizing that they need to really ramp up vaccination processes to as many people as possible, the Drug co's will make more soon, so don't hold back stock for boosters, better to get at least the first shot for 50+/- protection than NOT AT ALL, and will help to reduce the spread. However the SELFISH IDIOTS across the country that are continuing to gather in large crowds are a big part of what's propagating this stuff, because about 50% of infected folks are WITHOUT symptoms, and so are SILENT Super Spreaders. Okay, enough said before I get myself banned!

TC, glad you got the Vacc. I am a teacher, our school district is partnering with the local hospital group to get us vaccinated here in the next week or so with the doses that they are not able to administer otherwise due to the simple bottleneck of more people to vaccinate than there are hours in the day to do. They will be using the school healthcare professionals from the district to administer the shots to district teachers.

My brother is a PA. He got a call from FEMA three days before Christmas that they wanted him to be in Big Spring Texas within 24 hours to work in a Covid critical care unit. Took about two weeks for him to get the vaccine because the hospital wouldn’t vaccinate him since he wasn’t a direct employee, he works for FEMA. He’s working in DIRECT contact with the sickest of the sick, he’s in charge of three wings of a COVID ICU . Been averaging 16 hour days since December 23. He’s watched people be admitted and go 6 feet under, he’s watched people be admitted and walk out. He’s watched fellow workers who were healthy when he got there die in under a week.

The one commonality he has shared is sadly folks have conditions and are predisposed to an unfortunate outcome as a result. It’s not fair however it is the reality. With that being said we all have to be vigilant and take care of ourselves and our family as needed no matter what the prospects are or aren’t for being in line for a vaccine. We can’t control stupidity in our society of those who fail to recognize the danger so take the responsibility into our own hands and mitigate it the best we can, when we can.

I have looked at this Covid life the same way I look at riding a motorcycle, I do everything that I can and reduce the risk as much as possible and know that’s all I can control. I cannot control anyone else.

Very glad you beat it Marty...I am truly isolated..I dont socialize except online..my frinds are all over the place thus we dont see each other but a couple times a year...if that..i dont go to a gym...I dont eat out...I go grocery shopping in a huge walmart and always go off peak hours..once or twice a week...I always wear a mask in public ..and the other things they tell us we should do..,,so my risk factors are lower than yours...Planning to get my shot soon...The state has moved to the 65+ stage so we can go...

I’m gonna put this out there and take it for what you will. My brother mentioned above who works in a COVID ICU unit and (in my estimation) has as much information about trends as any source with respect to where things are heading. This new variant that is more contagious is going to make a huge run at the United States and the rest of the world. In his words, won’t be able to get folks vaccinated fast enough because it’s going to takeoff like a proverbial wildfire. Be vigilant and take care of yourself guys. I hope and pray it’s not the case, however we thought we’d be out of the woods and back to normal months ago with respect to where we were in the summer.

Read an article about the damage this does to the lungs. Now it was interviewing a pulmonary specialist so most of the people he is dealing with saw him for a reason, but the pictures were nasty even if it was an asymptomatic case. That vaccine can't get to me fast enough. The wife works at a school and told me preliminary estimate for her is end of March but who knows. Best of luck to everyone and like has been said do your best to minimize your exposure.

Yup, you betcha. Myself now just three weeks on the recovery side of Covid, I have a totally different view. I am a healthy middle aged person with no underlying conditions. I had a mild case, no ventilator, hospitalization, or unmanageable symptoms. However, Covid kicked the daylights out of my energy levels for two weeks. It really knocked me for a loop. Take it seriously. Think of others, not yourself. I have no idea where I contracted it, but rode the ride. Not a joke. I am thankful for all who beat it, I am saddened by the many who have been claimed.

Nice to see people are getting the vaccine. In the spring I think it was just Eastcoaster and me who had got the virus in the early days when east coast was such a bad spot, sorry to see so many others got infected. It truly freaked me out there for awhile even though I was pretty lucky. I'm teaching as well so waiting to get an appt. since I am 1B status (teacher but not quite 65). I don't trust my immunity so am still very careful.

Anyway, the the SG suffered more from neglect as I can't get access to it until late spring as it's in a friend's garage. Hoping I can resuscitate the old boy.
