Oh yeah and Tom's long braided beard! He does ride in the rain but only when he's caught by an unexpected shower.


Tim's now talking about picking up a cheap old bike to ride in the rain this winter 'cause he doesn't want to get his Ducky mucky. He's looking at an XS11 Special. Another one sucked into the clan!Hope we can get together again sometime soon, this month is really ideal up here, fall foliage will be great in a few days. Unfortunately I'm jammed for time right now...shouldn't even be on this site right now...gotta run...

Rode last Thursday in my leather pants

Some of you will recall I took the day off last Thursday to go riding. Those black leather pants were just right for the climb up onto the Blue Ridge parkway. I'm not a rock star or gay, but I only wear my leather pants when I go out for a whole day of riding...my jeans just aren't comfortable to ride in all day.

You know what they say, opinions are like a$$holes...everybody's got one. It's just that some people's are right below their noses and they tend to spew scat (trying to convince others to join in their opinions). Not me, I'll not try to convince you to get a pair of leather pants. Just don't generalize, please...

BTW, my Dad was in Korea for a while. He had my pants made by a leather shop while he was there. I sent him a pair of my jeans so the guy could use them as a pattern. He said that little man couldn't believe how big those pants were...of course, my Dad (same size) was standing right in front of him. That guy passed them around the place for everybody to get a good look. My Dad laughed his a$$ off.

Years ago when Carson was still on the Tonight Show and Leno was only a guest host, Leno was going to teach Carson to ride and ordered a leather jacket for him from a leathers shop in Portland. Anyway everybody in the shop tried on that jacket. The sent a note with it saying that they had done their best to break it in for him.

That's funny. I did the same thing in Korea in "84. Handed the guy down in the "ville" a pair o' my jeans and said copy them in leather. (Nice silk lining) Of course, now twenty years later, took them to a Korean tailor and had her expand them a bit. (I had the foresight twenty years ago to have them made with about three extra inches of leather inside the seams) Also had the boots custom made there to fit my cloven hooves. Think the whole show ran me about $40. (there's a lot to be said for slave labor in developing countries.)
