Yea, know what ya mean Tony, moslty stays pretty dry here in Grand Junction, even in winter as don't get any snow that stays around more than a couple days at 4,500 ft. elev. Gonna try those Hippos out middle of Nov. on a poker run here. Sometimes those sigs. cancel when I don't want em' to, and don't when I want em' to(dat was confusin'). Maybe will have motor changed by then, if not I'll run it as is. Did some investigating in Yammy's manual and saw where 81H's jetting stock, sea level was #115's for cyl. #2 & 3, #120's for #1 &4!....Interesting. Anyway, have #110's all the way across, gonna drop to #105's, maybe will clean it up abit, as some of that black build-up is oil due to guide seals I'm sure, run compression again(correctly this time) and had 125, 120, 118, 118, so just gonna put in the 81H motor which has only 33,000 on it, and all plugs are lite whitish-tan, so think that's a good sign it'll set ya back like ther supposed to......Brant

Just getting warm enough to ride in shirt without jacket down here, while I am enjoying summer riding I will think of you poor bastards freezing your bits off. If my ears burn while riding I will know that you are thinking of me.

Just wanted to report my ride in to work this morning was at 31 farenheit. Little frosty, but still not unbearable. Going shopping for a neck warmer though, had a little exposed skin just below the helmet and had to pull over and adjust the scarf before frostbite set in.

          Neck warmer

I discoverd a few years ago that a tightly knit wool cap (toboggan to those of you in the South) with the top cut out makes a great neck warmer. It is thicker than most of the neck warmers out there. It's like wearing the cap, only you just keep pullingit on until it's down around your neck. The cap is long enough to tuck into the collar of my leather, and the chinstrap holds up the top of it.

            toboggan

holy mackeral someone else who used the word toboggan. being born and raised in alabama thats all i knew to call the winter hat. when i moved to indiana 5 years ago and would ask some one about a toboggan they look at me like i was crazy. they call it a stocking cap or beanie. i had to learn ebonics for yankees.

i made my first long ride of the season sunday 300 miles the the 40 degree drizzle. what a rush.

It's been in the 30's several mornings here. Pulled out the Wells Lamont insulated coveralls, insulated robbers head covering, and heavy gloves. It's a nice 45 minute commute now. But my dang pinky keeps getting cold for some reason, guess I'll get some army surplus mittins to ride with when it gets real cold.

Whenever I fuel up around here, I pull the insulated head covering off. I don't want them to think I'm about to rob the place and risk getting shot.

Well my first cold ride was this morning, high 30s. I wore my Carhart coveralls, lightweight wind pants, leather jacket, hightop duck boots, lightweight balaclava, polypro glove liners, and unlined leather gloves. The only thing that got cold at all were my hands, and they weren't too bad. I am going to try the tip I read somewhere on here about putting on latex disposable gloves between my liner and gloves.

I have a windshield and am going to look into the hippo hands, or something. Knowing me I will make something that will work!

Gloves olympia brand semi gauntlet style(come up over the cuff of leather. chin the only part that got chilli. hands absolutly warm very good gloves had them for years. but alas with the temp at or below freezeing i can't justify dropping jiffy lube to save a buck at the pumps. I'm off the Battle Cruiser for a few days. Snowflakes flying here today. He's a hair unstable in quick stops on wet pavement, don't want to try him on snow or ice.

Rode down last night to local bar and had to zip my jacket all the way up!!!!!

Had to be all the way down to a least 65.
Better today, right now its about 72.

I know what you guys mean, didnt ride in tonight, lows 30 or below, never know could get some more wet or flakey stuff here, and also dont want to chance having a spill.

but, next warm spell I'll be back in the saddle .

Be careful and see you later

                              Hey guys, let OFF

I gust got home 5 minutes ago. Its still getting down to mid 60's after the sun goes down!!!

btw: After riden to a few local bars, decided to have a Denny's.

Leaving Dennay's decided that my XS hadn't had a good wto today so jumped on the freeway at whipple road and wound her out. felt so good went down the next exit (Tennison rd.) went around the clover and went back the other way. Cranked third to 8000 rpm went to forth wto, looked over shoulder and saw the CHP in the fast lane

speedo only goes to 85 and was doing near that in third.

CHP must have had a date cause I let off big time and they kept on going

I know the piper has got to be paid, just not tonight!!!!!!!
