That 1100 Zuke has a 16 valve engine and has been the bike to beat for a long time. I'm not suprized it flat ran away from a Vrod.
So will a Yamaha FJ1100 or 1200 but these bikes are only marginally faster than the Zuke.

I knew that
I saw that and already knew the answer ( look at my signiture ) But the guy on the rod apparantly didnt!! I hate the suzuki by the way very uncomfortale for and old man to drive. That said what a rush when u open her up and pull the front end . My 86 is rated at 122 hp but will only do about 240 klm per hour or 150 mph . It needs 1 more gear if u ask me..........................MITCHDoug Mitchell

Re: I knew that
I haven't been on a GS1100 since they first came out. I had never had a bike up to 90 in second gear before... Back then I was much younger and if it was at all uncomforable, I didn't notice.
I'd like to have a bike with that kind of power now but odds are I'd be too chicken to crank it on. That new Yamaha 1300 sport tourer looks like some thing I'd be happy with (as if I'm going to spend that kind of money on a bike...)

The bonus to racing for pinks (not that I have) is that after you pull the HD pink out of that dumb-ass's hand would be turning around and selling that over priced piece-o-crap and dumping all that $ into your beloved XS !'81 XS1100 SH

I don't think I'd run my XS11 against a V-Rod for money much less the title to my bike. They're faster than you think.
On the other hand, I think a FJ1100 would mop up the road with one.

Hey guys, this geared-up 'Kawamaha XS11' (it's an XS1196 with a chain) - does 90mph in 2nd in a blink. 3rd winds out to around 115mph at redline swiftly. 4th is standard XS11 5th - but on steroids! 5th gets to be truly fast. So not suprisingly these torquey 2-valve XS11 motors can pump out that sort of performance no-sweat.

Did you take pictures of the conversion process? I'd like to see what you did with the gearbox as well as more on the chain drive conversion. I imagine it was a lot of work to eliminate the middle drive.
Shaft drive bikes give up quite a bit of power for the convenience of a shaft. However, I’m not in a hurry to convert either of my XS11’s to chain drive.
