  • XS1100 XS650 fenders

    Do the fenders on a xs650 fit a xs1100? any help would be apprecaited. thanks

      Hey John,

      I checked the parts #'s and they are all different between the 650's and the 1100's. What would be helpful is for someone who owns a 650 to measure and post the mounting hole distances on the same side, the width of the brackets, and the height of the fender from the mounting bracket holes FOR A 650, then we could compare to the 1100 and see if it's close? Reaming out the mounting holes a few mm's isn't a big deal, but if it's way off, then we would know NOT TO TRY!?

        The XS650 Special fenders do not fit the XS 11 Special, dunno about standards. I'm going to be gone tomorrow but when I get back I'll measure the bolt hole distance. The XS750/850 triple Special fender will fit (I've got one on my XS11SF). I imagine the XJ650/750 fender will fit as well since the forks are similar. Fenders that fit the Specials won't fit a standard since the wheel is offset on the Specials.

          Hey Mike,

          Doesn't the 650 redline at a slightly lower level than the XS11? And didn't they have a 120mph speedo? I'm asking cause this Ebayer has posted this item as one for an XS11:

          It sure looks like a set from a 650 instead!? I'd send the lister a correction notice if I knew for sure, although I'm sure they aren't for the XS11, not exactly sure what they are for, but still, he will want to be careful to NOT MISREPRESENT his items!!

            TC...that link isn't working. Redline on the XS650 is 7500 rpm, pre-EPA speedos are 120 mph. Just about all Yamaha speedos are the same drive ratio so even if it's for an XS650 (120mph), XS750/850 (140mph) it'll work on the XS11. I've got an XS750S? speedo on my XS650H, it's actually more accurate than the stock 85mph job. I've also got a 750 tach on my XS400 (same 9k redline) Prob with the tach is that it's mechanical, not electric like the XS11.

                .. hi i have put the late model xs650 front fender with the built in brace on my 79 SF
                i had to move the holes up a couple of mm but it works better than the stock fender in helping to hold the wheel straight in hard corners, i noticed a big differance
                it might not be as good as a fender brace but it's deffinatly better than stock
                the shape is nearly the same and the holes are real close
                the only bummer is it's painted

                  That's right, the XS650 fender mounts ARE deeper so you can adapt an 650 fender to the 11 but not the other way around. I based my reply on my trying to fit a 750 Special fender (identical to the 11 Special) to an XS650. So the 650 fender is stiffer than the 11s? Interesting, a lot of 650 folks fit fork braces anyway. Since the fender can be made to fit I'm wondering if the Mikes XS 650 fork brace could be modified to fit.

                    Front fender of my XS11 standard '78 and 650 also standard '80 are interchangeable. The mounting hole distances on all Yamaha forks with the floating calipers are identical. The forks differ however in tube diameter, 35mm on the 650, 37mm on the 11. Braces that are mounted on the dust cap diameter of the lower fork leg are not interchangeable.
                    Please excuse me if my english is difficult to understand.
                    XS1100 and XS650- what do you need more?

                      Yes, I understand. The Mikes XS brace bolts to the fender mounts however. Part #27-1070 chrome fork brace or #27-1069 at www.mikesxs.com
