  • any Northerners/snowmobilers here?

my Kombi/GoreTex gaunlet gloves were destroyed last year in an accident and I'm looking for some replacements. I ride year round and 'can't find these gloves in "Can'tAffordYa". I went to the Kombisports.com website and they don't have the same gloves - my old ones covered the outside of my leather jacket halfway up to my elbows. The only place I've seen these same gloves were sold in snowmobile shops... I don't have any plans on traveling to Chicago, or Minniapolis till next spring...
Anybody know where to find gloves like the ones I'm looking for?
    TIA

Spot - I'll be glad to look around if you can give me a littlw more info. There are a number of motorsport shops in our vicinity who carry this kind of stuff. Any model numbers - colors - price range - etc???

I hate to even bring up this name here, but I got a set of gloves at the local Harley store (gasp). They have very wide cuffs that go well above the sleeves on my jacket, have goretex in them so they are quite toasty even on 35 degree Indiana days, and they also have some gel inserts around the palms. I guess that some brands of motorcycles have some vibrations that can make your hands go numb? I know that you never will believe this, but they only come in black leather! I am quite happy with them but they are like 70.00$ A little steep but worth every penny. Now if I could find a way to get that embroidered "Harley Davidson" off of the top!

          thanks guys...
I've tried Dennis Kirk, and 3 other on-line parts places... I also went into a Hardly Drivable dealership (800 ft down from my shop) and I'm not about to pay twice the price for ANYthing that has THEIR logo on it - I didn't do that for 34 yrs when I owned 7 HDs... ...now if it had XS11 on it I'd buy 2 or 3 sets !

the gloves I had looked like this:

the only leather on the glove was the palm, and rest of the 'exterior' is a nylon. The inside has GoreTex and my hands stayed nice and warm last winter down to the mid '30s (F)

          any help will be appreciated.

I saw those gloves at the HD dealer and some other nice ones as well but they're priced at 3 times what similar stuff sells for that doesn't say Hardley Ableson on it. Be patriotic and buy Amurkin, genuine Harley-Davidson gloves, made in China! Try Walmart.

Try Road Rider in San Jose, CA. I know they have the gloves. I just got a NICE pair of winter gloves on the Reno Ralley. The shop had a 40% off bin, and I picked up a pair of ELECTRIC gloves. I saw the same gloves last year at Road Rider for $97, and paid $43 for these!!
They are Goretex with leather palms, and the sweade on the back for mist/rain.

Now you went and done it, made me feel like poop. Went and checked the label on my Harley made in america gloves and sure enough made in China! I absolutely hate that. Wish I could take them back now.

Like everything else Harley, (except maybe the bikes) you're just buying a brand. Like Budweiser which is no better nor worse than Natural Beer or Bushch which is made in the same brewery with the same materials and tastes the same but is cheaper.

One of my friends had a T shirt made that says "I own a Harley Davidson MOTORCYCLE, not just a stupid shirt!"

                    Lets see...

Showa suspension, Kehien carbs, Nippondenso electronics...BUT, it's an American made bike. It's not made in USA, it's just assembled here, kinda like most all metric cruisers. Years ago my room mate had an 84 h-d roadster (sportster with a big tank) and he asked me to go to the h-d T shirt emporium and get him some rear footpegs. When I got them, I looked at the packaging. They were an original h-d part. I mean I was on hallowed ground, an h-d shop. There it was, on the package, the vaunted h-d logo...and right below that were the words, ready for this? MADE IN KOREA!!!! American made my ass! Assembled here with foreign components.
Do y'all kow that the Honda Accord is the most American made car there is? It is over 90% sourced from this country. In fact Honda builds them here for export back to Japan, if I remember correctly.

Interesting how a thread about the need for a pair of winter gloves can deteriorate!

Ok, winter gloves...Cabela's Outfitters www.cabelas.com . They should have anything you need in the way of gloves. Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, I buy all my boots from them. They've also got deerskin gloves which are great for riding. Last I checked there were no deer in China, don't suppose any have migrated there recently. They do have deer in Japan but they're little tiny ones. Cabela's also carries motorcycle covers and many other items of use to us motorcyclists
