It really pays to buy bike parts in the off season. That tank I bought would have run over a C note if I had bought it a couple months back...

The way I see it is if I want the item, I will bid the max I'll pay at the last moment.

If it's something I'd like to have, I'll bid the max I'll pay somewhat earlier. Also for a "like to have" item, the max price is usually much less.

Are you saying you are just bidding on items to drive up the price so we have to pay more to get something we might need?

No I bid on stuff I want. I just have 2 bidding paterns depending on how bad I want something.

On like to have stuff, I toss out a bid and if I get it, I get it. Like the tank I just bought I was the only bidder.

In the very same way, I am totally addicted to ebay XS goods. When times are really tight (like now) I can't even allow myself a peak at those deals.

                        ok, tried ebay

bought my first items off e-bay. got an ignition switch and gas cap, keyed alike, and (from the photos) fairly clean. the keys for my bike where lost somewhere along the way (before i bought it) and it looked like someone tried to turn the ignition with a screwdriver, it was pretty buggered up. i THINK $38 was a decent deal, but i'm new at this so we'll see.

If it were not for e-bay- I would have no chance of a custom bike biz in the AK- that and the on-line J/Y stores- I have only been burned once, no, make that twice now- both items paid for, month later, e-mailing me asking more for shipping, AFTER giving me shipping quote- so I left bad feedback for one- the other one had already lost his e-bay account- and since I paid for paypal money back guaruntee, I got 100% of my money back both times!

Ya, I put max bid in for stuff I really need at the last 1 minute, what my REAL top dollar amount will be, and the stuff I would LIKE to have, I put my max bid in maybe an hour in advance, so I don't forget it.

I would have charged you $20.00 including shipping for a ignition switch with key and gas cap lock matching.

all the griping and cussing, I suggest you run the tape back to pre Internet.

One, maybe 2 salvage yards in the area with bikes, you pay 50% of list price and if they do not have it, too bad for you. Might take years to find what you want, and you had to call back all the time to see if something showed up. I agree there are A-holes on ebay, but they are not so hard to pick out. The plus side is that there are great deals if you know what you want and pay attention. For the XS and GL's there are always parts available, couldnt imaging trying to go back to the pre internet world!

Oh and chevy, you are right, you are not a very good person.
I have a bike and I am not afraid to use it
