Sorry you're not having fun!
I'm having a pretty good time recently. My Ebay score just went over the single digits.....10 ! !
I just won a 6" bench grinder, 1/2 hp, ball bearing, complete with tool rests, safety guards, for only $1.35!!! Shipping is $19.99, but that's still $13.00 cheaper than what I could find locally!
Lost a bid for a used Morse taper #3 drill chuck, just to find a machine shop wholesaler where I can get a new one for less than the used item bid amount!!
I'll never make it to Jazzrat's level, but I'm slowly getting there!

I like Ebay, use it for all kinds of things. Just got my Blue Star for 50.
I'm an evil sniper though. Fear my Paypal.
The key to Ebay is eternal patience (don't bid! It just raises the price), then precision bidding in the last minute. At least I do it myself though. There are plenty of software packages that allow you to snipe any auction you want, without having to actually do the bidding yourself. Set a max and let it go. No honor in that, I say.
A high bid at 4-5 seconds left (provided you have fast internet) will mosttimes get you the item. I've found that if I want it, someone else does too. It's all about who wants it more. That can cost you sometimes.80 XS1100SG

Well, I just bought a CD-RW drive and a set of crash-bar footpegs, the first for my PC and the second for the XJ. Even with shipping, a lot less than retail. You just have to watch for stuff.Jerry Fields

There are some good items on ebay, I just get sick of all the bs stuff listed. Example: L.E.D. under bike lights for the-you guessed it! XS1100! Another annoyance are the obsessive disassemblers: You know, the ones who take brake calipers apart and (try to) sell the pistons separately. Or the "NOS" items only used a few seasons.2010 Kawasaki Z1000

Yes, but...
I got an instrument pod for my XJ cheap, as the guy didn't know what he had and listed it for an FJ. None of the FJ guys bid on it....
Have only been burned once in maybe 8 years now, that was on some misrepresented memory chips. That guy was gone in a hurry. Buyer beware, some stuff is more expensive (aka Yamaha golf cart emblems) on ebay than through a dealer! You have to know what you are looking for, and be prepared to wait a while until you find it at a good price.
The crash-bar footpegs I bought were listed 2 ways, one a "universal" fit, the other had Yamaha, Honda etc in the ad. Mine cost just over $11.00, same units in the other ad were over $25.00. How you search can make a difference.
Patience and research, your 2 guiding principals to using eBay effectively....Jerry Fields
