  • Had to say thanXS

I recently aquired a 79 full dress standard,
the bike was FREE... My father bought it off a friend who needed cash. He was gonna ride it ,but had to go back to work ... he works cross-country pipeline so he is away for a while at a time.
He told me if i fixed the bike it was mine.
I was excited..TIL ..i found out that the previous owner rode it and it scared him so he parked it...in 1994 with a full tank of gas. And had not touched it since then.

I stumbled on to this site and started to read the forums...and 2 months later...
a Running and very fun to ride XS11!!!

thanx to all for the info.

from a guy who only knows cars...

    Hey there 96X,

Congrats on your accomplishment, and now you know cars and XS11!!! Why, you're practically bilingual!!

Check out the Member's Forum, search for Pennsylvania, and you'll find a thread with several folks in your state, perhaps even close to you that you might be able to get with for rides!?!? Welcome, glad the site was helpful(it's purpose!!), and another XS11 is on the road and not being parted on EBAY!!!

if only you knew how many times it crossed my mind to part it!!!

the fuel was like a slushy, the carbs were discusting inside, tires were cracked badly, the windshield broken, and it had more pigeon crap on it....than most bridges.
if a car sits for years...some clean fuel and a lil persuasion and it will run....this bike was problem after problem.

still needs work...and some tlc,but rides like a champ. and all due to hearing the problems here and patients (that i have little of) .
Now i have my first street bike.
the write-ups here are very nice and precise. hard to find sites like that.

      thanXS agian!

I use a sight like this for my Honda and love it ! Very glad to have found it and plan on using it to the fullest. I have planned to sell my XS many times but to no avail, sure glad they didn't have the money. I plan on a second restoration this winter and now realize these bikes are goin up in value.
