  • several stupid questions/new XS1100 owner

i have owned over 50 bikes but this is my 1st xs1100.

no owners manual. how do you open /lift up the seat ?
if you use the key this one has yamaha bags and chrome bumpers that disallows access to the key lock.

    sdanville,

    It's worse than you thought

The seat is bolted on. Look up under the seat at the frame rail just behind the shock mount. 14mm socket does it.

      Thanks Randy !

No wonder I couldnt find the latch.

I need some straight handle bars and and some odds and ends.
THis low mileage bike will be a runner.

Yamaha had open end wrenches in the tool kit. one was a 12mm X 14mm, and the other was a 14mm X 17mm. I alway's use the open end, and gently, on the seat nuts. They don't seem to vibrate loose, but if you go at them to much, they can be HARD to get off.
If you have the Yamaha saddlebags, you don't have room to get a socket in there.
