Wow..Damm,,. Holy &^%$,,. Hope you and your bike get better soon. Just to let you and everyone know,,. Against my younger judgement, I now where my helmet and protective gear regardless of the weather. I have to stop a little bit more often when it's 100 degrees and 90 percent humidity, But o"well. I may want to fly somewhere someday and with homeland security,......

                hardware

                john,

will you keep the hardware in permantly or will you have to go back in for removal. i had half of my right wrist rebuilt in may. i had pins for 6 weeks. they pulled them out with pliers while i was watching. the first 4 were cool #5 made me openly question the doctors parentage. i won't be able to ride until next year sometime because of the handlebar vibration. good luck and speedy recovery. i know first hand how much it sucks to just be able to look at the bike.

Well.... what can I say.... get better soon.

Vibrations.... yeah... get a VFR, put on some thick foam rubber grips and thats bout it. I got a set on my 78E, don't know what vibration is.

                    Permanently Erect

Is not always a good thing. The Dr. says that I will have the hardware forever. It's funny...the discs are all in good shape, no damage at all. I thought they could just inject some kind of 'bone glue' and after it healed, the hardware would be removed. I hope I have enough flexibility to be able to sit on the bike and ride for a good long while. I did sit on it and fire it up a few days ago. The battery was down so I had to jump it, but it seems it has been sitting too long and a couple of carbs may have gummed up. It ran like sh!t. As soon as I am healthy enough I'll have to pull them and give them a good cleaning...dammit. One thing in my favor though is the Foster Child. It is still running good and ready to be ridden. SWMBO was riding it until I got hurt, but it hasn't been ridden since. We did put some Stabil in the tank a few days ago, but Ol' Twilite has been sitting outside since June 5th, and it seems that in this Texas heat, the fuel in the carbs has evaporated and gummed up.

WOW! First of all I don't want to come across as a smart ass by asking the question Gosh Darn what a bad deal! Sometimes I am naive enough to get sucked into something but obviously not the case with you. Truly hope you are mending properly and will be able to ride again. I've been reading what you have to say on the FORUM and am quite impressed with what I read! I just joined this site in May of this year when I started putting an old "hiefer" back together. Good luck, my prayers are with you and look forward to hearing from you and tracking your progress.
