    '79 Special Airbox

    Does anyone know if the '78 - '80 Standard airbox is the same as the '79 - '80 Special airbox? In the pictures, it looks like the horn at the top is a bit wider on the Special, but I can't really tell.

    The 78-79 are the same and the 80-81 are the same. The only difference is the carb vent ports that are next to the crankcase vent port. On the older models, these ports are open, and they are plugged in the later models. If you use an airbox fom a later model on an older bike, you will need to open thse ports up for the carb vent hoses. I'm running a set of 78 carbs and airbox on my 80 SG.
