    Info between two different Dunlaps

    I will be replaceing the tires on MIYAMI this weekend and I know this subject has been drug out to the depths. I know was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Dunlap D404's. I've managed to walk into a pretty good deal on just about any tire I want to buy. I've looked at the Elite III's and don't like the tread pattern. The elite II's I know are a very good tire. The D404's seen to be pretty good as compared to the Elite II's exept the price is alot lower. It's pretty much came down to these two choices. Has anyone ran the D404's before? Any info on rubber compounds????
    I decied that the ChengChingChowaJCW Specials are going to go away and never return. Ever.. 6000 mile and the back tire's wore out and the front tire is starting to crack in between the treads.

    I think that this was covered a little while back but could not find the thread. I think that it had to do mostly with weight but might be mistaken. I just put the 404's on my naked 78 e and am quite happy with them. I think that someone maybe decided that the elite II were better suited for the heavier bikes? I liked the idea of a cheaper price and gave them a try. Have over a thousand miles so far and seem to be doing just fine. handle good and very smooth going down the road.

      Put 404's on last year, largely due to price, and have been happy with them.

        I like the GT501s the best.

          The Elite 3 has slightly deeper tread depth, slightly larger overall diameter, is rated at a higher speed, and carries a lot heavier load. (830 lbs vs 677 lbs.) The Elite is a heavier-duty tire.

            I looked at the Elite III's agian but bought the 404's. Put them on and balanced them today. They ride alot better then the ChenChingChowa specials that were on before. On the way home from getting my tires, I stopped at the Harley shop and saw another XS11 in the parking lot. I don't know who it was. Bike was light brown/Burnt orange in color. Full Faring, trunk, hard saddlebags. Rear floor board. Engine crash bar with driving lights and highway pegs. I'm kinda jealous now cause it looked better then mine. Anyway, I went in to see if I could join in on the burnout contest. They said no. They wanted to keep it just pushrod V-twins. ( I think they were scared that I would take the show, I would've ran it till it popped.) Did my own burn out show in my driveway. ( with no water on the ground ) Quite impessive. The ol' girl's got some gonads. By the way,,, Yes,,, I did this with the old tires.

                    On my way to the Beab Blossom rally, I'll be stopping in DesMoines, at a truck stop I know of, and buying a set of rubber bulls balls to hang on the back of MIYAMI. A buddy and I picked up a set for his pick up truck on a trip through. They were sold out of the little ones. That will be a picture worth takeing.

                      On my search I came up with 4 threads that had the work gonads (including this one). Guess who said it in all 4?

                        I guess I've got a very foul mouth and want to keep it as clean as I know how on this site. Sometimes it's pretty hard to do and that's the only thing I can think of other then %#$@@&(*$%. The XS has got some serious power. Out of all the bikes I've riden in my life, She's got the gonads to whip em all into submission XSept mabee the lack of low end torque. ( off the line )
