      Update

John made it through the surgery but it was a little more extensive than we had first thought. They had to fuse the T11, T12, L1, L2 & L 3 vertebrae together.

I let him know that you were sending your best and your prayers and he is very appreciative of your thoughts (so am I).
He will be in the hospital another week or so....

His bike is in surprisingly good condition, windshield is shattered, tank is dented, turn signals are busted and the carbs pulled away from the airbox, but nothing that can't be repaired... eventually... I think.

and if there's a chance that the Sox will beat the Yankees in the World Series again... she might just catch that ball... nahhhhhh

Thanks again for all of your support...
      Kat

Tell him I still am waiting to meet him at TeXSive 05, we've been trying to hook up since last year. Keep the faith, hopefully it's all downhill from now on.
There's always a way, figure it out.

                      Update

He MUST be doing better as he was quite cranky this morning. The nurse got tired of it and has kept him pumped full of demerol. (not really... but he is pumped full of demerol)
He is sitting up once in awhile but still has a great deal of pain. He may move out of ICU tomorrow.
                      Will keep you all posted.
Thank you again for your support and prayers...
                      Y'all have been really super

                              Hey there Wildkat,

So sorry to hear about John's mishap, and my tardiness in posting a well wish, being preoccupied with my little trip and limited internet access! Glad he's recovering well if not grumpily from his surgery, having had both back and neck surgery I can appreciate what he's going thru....albeit no where near as extensive as what he's had !

Also glad to hear that you're going to let him back on the bike once he's healed! Best of Luck to you both!
