  • Going on VACATION!

    Hey there folks,

Just wanted to post to let you all know that I "MAY" be in a status of "INCOMMUNICATA" for a week! Going on a CRUISE to the Bahamas that SWMBO arranged many months ago! We leave for the ship in about 3 hours!

I might be able to get to an internet cafe once we get to the islands, but not sure. The last time I was on one of these friggin' things about 7+ years ago....they had access on the ship, something like 10minutes for $10.00..... No thankyou! To steep for my cheap blood!

Okay, don't everybody cheer at once that I'll be silenced for a whole week, but there are plenty of Non-official moderators that daily contribute to this knowledge base, so you'll be in good hands(thanks to them....you know who you are!)

Gonna see how many golf balls I can loose down in Nassau, and try not get sunburnt in the process! Stay cool.

Bring your laptop along, I'll bet there's free access onboard. Most large resorts and hotels are offering it now.

      Oh, and have fun....

          Well,

Hello from the Carnival Cruiseship Triumph. I did bring my laptop, didn't want to be too bored, got many games to keep me busy!

However, Brian, no luck on the FREE access...this is a for profit ship, I got the best value I could, 0.40cents a minute package, so I won't be spending too much time in trying to help answer questions, mainly just to post some pictures in this thread, and send a few emails!!

Hey Kurt, Xmas in June, just what I wanted to experience!! Don't forget to send me the $$shipping details for your reimbursement!

Here's a few shots to get started! The sister-n-law arranged for a nice ride to the port, in a LIMO!

Hey John, thankfully THIS was NOT THE SHIP I was going on! I was a dry water sailor anyways, didn't have to experience that Haze Grey and Underway!! BTW, this view was from the deck of the cruise ship!

Here's the Front of this monster!

          Here's the back!

Here's where I might get some soaking time in!

And here's where I DON'T want to get any soaking time in!!

Golf lessons tomorrow, and an actual day on the golf course on Tuesday...ya'll don't work too hard!

By seeing these pics, I'm almost over my phobia about being on big boats for awhile over deep water, more then swimming distance from shore. I've been trying to convince myself to take one of these cruises with SWMBO for many years. Mabee next year. I just have to quit thinkin about the titanic and Jaws....

              Well,
Here's the next installment of photos and info! Sorry for poor quality of some of the shots, el-cheapo $50.00 Walmart Digital POS, but it works, and I don't cry if it gets lost/broken!

Hey Czekus, well you'll be happy to know that on these and all cruise ships, safety comes first....here's a shot of a little get together we were all invited to within the 1st hour of the trip!

And aside from the shops in port, there are more ways to loose your $$$!

I got to work with the golf pro in the pro shop and computer course simulator....here's a few shots of my short work with my 6 iron!

Of course after all of that hard play, I was ready for some chow, and you can have burgers and fries, pizza, or such in the open lunch room....

Or, you can do some FINE DINING in 1 of the 2 major assigned Dining rooms...they do have Formal Dress occasions, but you can also be casual....just no tank tops....who wants to look at hairy pits while you're eating!

Now, you don't have to worry about eating too much, you'll have plenty of strolling distance to help it settle!

And, after dinner, you can take in a Vegas style show before retiring to your room.

We arrived in NASSAU today, but you know how it is when you travel, parking is the biggest hassle!

We got in kinda late, so not much time for any excursions, just some simple shopping a few blocks from the boat, but this rocker knows where to go!!

Trying hard NOT to think about work.... but can't ignore my fellow Xsives!! Have fun....see you in a day or so!

Back in 1994, I was parked right behind that left hand ship on a submarine tender.... those ships made mine look like a bath tub toy.

                  Hey Shawn,
If you look closely at that picture, you can see a small "P" boat, one of the Bahamian Navy's ships!! Yeah, in my first picture in this thread, you see the shot of the Wisconsin, taken from the mid level deck of the Triumph, and that was a BattleShip!!!

Well, had a fun day at golf..., only lost about 1/2 a 12 count package of "X"out TopFlite balls, and made a fair "Bowling" score...around 130!!! But I did hit a few good drives and iron shots, so my game is slowly improving, just have to practice!

Went shopping in Nassau, and picked up a nice postcard for you guys.......

And then got me a "fun" tattoo!

It's only oil based paint, but I might make it permament if I grow to like it!
Off to Freeport tomorrow, take it easy!

                    Coming to an end!

                    Well,
This is the last night of the cruise. It's been a fun time, but I'll be glad to get back home and sleep in my own bed! The food was very good, and the richness of it finally caught up to me today, thank goodness for IMMODIUM!
Just a sample of the meals:
Escargot(snails in a garlic butter herbs sauce)
Cocques de Jacques(large sea scallops in a cheese sauce on a potato ring)
Chocolate Souffle' with a hot caramel sauce.

                    Shrimp/crab salad appetizer
                    Lobster tail main course
Custard Flambe' with Amaretto shot chaser!

Shrimp on a bed of fettucini in a mushroom sauce,
Seafood assortment;scallops, filets, shrimp in a cheese sauce, with rice,
Superb chocolate cake with raspberry sauce.

I rarely get seafood at home, so I got it as much as I could here!
Freeport was just a 5 hour layover, so mostly a short walking and shopping trip, got a few good T-shirts and trinkets for the folks back at work! Well, gotta go check out a few other threads and my email on this last hour of internet time I have on this contract......see you all soon!

Its a shame you didnt have time to visit More around the island. i went there on the ship on the right side .. Royal Caribian's Soverin (sp) of the Seas. Great trip, did you go to the Straw Market? What about the Atlantis Resort & Casino? Thats the Pink colored buildings over the Carnival Ship on the left. I found some great Cuban Cigars out there ....
