  • Bye Bye XS

A sad time last night when the new owner rode off on my lovely black 1.1 Sport, owned by me since September ‘92

I'm afraid in a rash moment I put the XS up for sale as I'm not really riding it much anymore due to being a new dad this year and complicated stuff like that. She really needed to be ridden and not locked away in the garage.

I know I’ll go crazy without a bike to ride, so a sidecar could be on the horizon to haul the three of us around. I know what you're thinking...the XS would be pretty well suited to this, but my T3 Guzzi California won eventually when I had to decide on the better chair puller.

Lots of memories buzzing around in my head last night, not the least that I’ve had more near misses in the past, riding the XS11 at 10/10ths, than on any other bike I’ve owned. Luckily these days my riding style has perhaps mellowed a little… still a blast now and again is a nessessity to keep us all sane I guess.

I did a lot of work on the Xs, rebuilding the engine, doing a transmission fix, forks, etc etc. So I hope you guys don't mind another ex-owner hanging around the forum from time to time. Be good to help out any new guys with questions I think I may know something about. You never know – I may get the bug again and start looking for another 11!

That was a fine one! Being a new dad made me sell my XS-650 years ago.

Then my twins grew up and it was time to get a new ride! At least you still have the Guzzi to go on if the urge hits.

I understand. I sold my XVZ12 ('83 Yamaha Venture) about 17 years ago to buy a jeep for the teenagers to drive. Then a couple years ago, kids gone, early retirement and I got the bug back in a big way. Lucky to find a good 78E and this forum! Sorry you had to let the XS go. Congrats on the new dad part!

Yes, I to sold an XS750-2D in '82 (new father, down payment on a house). Always wanted an XS 1100 and found a '80 XS1100LG last Sept. Lets see, kids gone, free cash, and I still wanted an XS.

Just remember all things will pass and absence makes the heart grow fonder. Congradulations on the new addition.

You'll just love the XS more the second time around.

P.S That is one SWEET ride.

Nice to hear I'm not the ony one making this kind of decision.

Glad to hear a few guys out there like the old girl.... couple more pictures here to let you see her a bit better
