  • I had to let it go... (WooHoooo!!!) :D

Well, it escaped. They're never done, I had to let it go.

I just finished uploading my third book, Life is a Road, Ride it Hard! to the publisher. It should hit the streets in 4-6 weeks.

After final editing, about 49,000 words, 17 illustrations, and two gorgeous covers (hard and soft cover versions).

Special thanks to Ron Lee for the spirited illustrations and to Dan Peters for the gorgeous covers.

    Wish me luck!

10,158 miles. Incredible thunderstorms, raging forest fires, dense smoke, hail, sleet, cops, a half-a-dozen paramedics, bears, and even a dragon or two...you know...the usual stuff.

Ride the Alaskan Highway all the way there and back again. It’s 4365 miles each way, Dallas to Fairbanks...

I just received the editorial review from my publisher for Life is a Road, Ride it Hard! It's due out in just a few weeks.

I think they might have liked it:

        ...powerful and immediately appealing...

        ...absolutely solid and gripping.

        ...compelling narrative ability

        ...turns macho expectations upside down

...writes with considerable energy and originality

The author communicates with his audience superbly. At a time when some sociologists claim that our frontiers are behind us, Meyer finds adventure and meaning in that most American of locales: on the road.

Meyer is a genuine biker, and he feels no insecure need to fit the standard clichés.

Meyer is an experienced writer, and he has carefully and thoroughly worked with his structure and organization in order to serve his narrative as strongly as possible.

Most fascinating…are his comments on human nature and the universal truths of life.

One of the strengths of the manuscript is the author’s powerful narrative. He can also be remarkably reflective at times—as well as outrageously funny.

Meyer is a wonderful narrator, and this book is easy to read, informative, perceptive, and fun.

We are in the proof/typo correction stage at this point. No matter how carefully or how many times I proof it, those sneaky little typos still manage to creep in. I’m squashing them as fast as I can, and should be through with this stage this week. I’ll keep everybody posted!

        I'm excited (just a little )

          Hey Danny,

Has your publisher ever sent any copies to Jay Leno? He's a biker, and might find your form of prose entertaining enough to want to have you on his show? Especially now that you're on your 3rd book, you've proven you're not just a flash in the pan!
Just hope Jack Hannah isn't on at the same time, don't need a wild Squirrel attack type incident on TV!!!!

Well, my publisher hasn't...but I have friends that run the New Rock Store near LA...and he is a regular visitor...as well as the governator.

My friend has slipped him both of my books...autographed to him no less!

            (pays to have connections, yes?)

Once upon a time I went to university. Alltho I spet more time in a nearby bar.
Anyhoo, there was an old beat-up Z550 parked on the way, always there. I once saw a guy nearing pension that rode it (rain or shine). The best thing about that two-wheeled junk was a large sticker on the front mudguard: I'm not a biker, I'm a motorcyclist!
So much about bikers. I keep picturing "bikers" with shiny choppers in some village "MC" trying to look badass and crap like that, doing about 500 miles per year wondering why their battery keeps crapping out.

Anyway, someone mentioned a biker here, so that sticker came to mind.
Congrats on the progress! As usual, we want more stories and stuff.
