      dead ???

when you say dead how bad is it ? my xj started out at 500.00 purchase price, than tranny complete 800.00 than rebored and top end 650.00 did all the work my self and enjoying it ! (except the machining work) she pulls as hard as my 89' fzr 600. not bad for 535 lbs of yamma steel. and wouldnt sell her for anything. thants true love ! now about my wife ....I'd sell her in a min .. cheep ! Nothing sounds as cool as a big mulit cyclinder !

Strom, your bike looks sooo good. clean.
What has been done to your pipes?
It looks like they're coated or something, looks good.
Are those welds near the bottom in the front?
        just wondering..

A friend made them. The top ends of the pipes are from a marwing 4-1, the bottom part was home made 4-2, the mufflers too. Mufflers are chromed, the rest is painted with some silver oven paint in a can. It really peals off easily and rust is alredy comming out after bout 6 months. I'll try to get new headers, or maybe I'll just have these sanded and rechromed. I guess the top ends were chromed once. Not sure, but n.1 is real bad.
Shoulda see the bike today. Polished the whole thing, chrome, gas tank, side covers, the works. Got an inspection saturday morning for the oildtimer certificate (cheap registration). Had a temporary one till now. This one should be permanent.
