  • No riding for a while

Looks like I'll not be riding for a bit. I went to the Dr this morning for a hernia. She felt it and said she was having me see a surgeon later today.
Seems like every year now around my birthday (last Fri) I have a surgery. Last year was a cyst removed. Next year who knows.
I have an hour to kill before the appointment, I'm going for a ride.

don't worry Pat, I worked in an OR for a while and they have those surgeries down. You should be off two legs and on two wheels in no time.

I had that done a couple of years ago. It was so fast, I joked to my friends that I had "drive-thru" surgery. I was in and out in a day, and laid around the house for a few days after that, which isn't all bad, my friend. You'll be up and at 'em in no time at all, with the whole summer left for the bike.

                Godspeed,

Back home from the hospital (2 nights stay). Interesting reaction from everyone there.... I work at that hospital (Security, I told them I was "under cover").
Dr said I may be out for 6 weeks, we'll see.
                  Thanks for the well wishes.

                    laid up

looks like i'll be joining you on the wagon for a while. i blew out a ligament in my wrist. thinking it was a sprain i put it off having it checked and the ligament disolved leaving 2 bones in the carpal tunnel floating around. i went in the 19th for repair. i had a partial fusion done. they went in and scrapped my hip bone and grafted that into my wrist to replace the ligament. so now i have 4 pins and a few screws in my wrist which is wrapped up past my elbow and about 15 staples holding my side shut. i go next week to get the dressing off and a cast on. then 8 weeks with that. add another month or 2 for rehab and i'll be lucky to see my bike by november. hello oxycontin.

What a bummer!! I hope you get back in shape quick. If I can ride with 12 stitches in both palms (accident with a car window) you can figure out something.
I rode today, both bikes (at different times).
Went about 10 miles on the Black Widow, 3 on the Gem. The Gem still has some problems that need to be addressed, just not running right.
Dr appointment tomorrow, I'll be going on the bike.
