  • Oil Cooler ??

Have an 81 H Trans Canada with full fairing, bags, lowers. But the exhaust just had to go, rusted completely away. Couldn't find a reasonably priced OEM so I went with a 4 into 1 but the oil cooler had to go. Have a line installed between oil opening at bottom of engine. My question .. seeing as all my driving is rural and highway. What effect will having an oil cooler have on the bike. I've seen other bikes of the same size and vintage w/o the cooler. Or have I set myself up for a problem?

    Bob:

Use the Search tab at the top of the page and use oil cooler as the look-up phrase. There has been a lot of discussion on oil coolers, and there is currently another thread that is discussing this. (See the later posts)

I wouldn't sweat removing it. Caused me nothing but trouble on my XS...

I pulled it and had no problems, despite LOTS of miles, heavy loads, and extreme heat (Texas).
