  • Coffee run

    Saturday morning.
6.30 I get up, and drive SWMBO to school....
7.00 make myself a cup of coffee.
7.05 check out the weather around, which part of the small country I live in has no rain. And temperatures above freezing.
7.10 half the coffee gone, the more I look at the satelite and radar images, automated weather stations reports... the more the sad truth sinks in... it's cold and cloudy.
9.00 To hell with the weather, I got till 3pm, when I have to pick up the SWMBO.
9.10 and almost dressed to go, I decide to go north.
9.30 the bike wants to go south-east. Nice semi-fast roads and I haven't been in those parts for 6 months now. Fine with me.
10.30 and damn cold. Let's cut west and towards the coast. Yep... good idea.
11.00 Bad idea. By my calculations, I'm gonna run out of fuel about 10 miles before a designated coffee stop. I took off the windshield, so maybe even a bit sooner. Crap. If I turn back, same thing.
11.20 a fuel station appears before me. Yipee! An old clerk watches me with suspicion, a young mother tries hard not to seem interested in me and the bike, her young son wants to jump on the bike and eat it with his eyes. I'm laughing inside! I had exact change, so I paid in cash. Got me some smokes too.
11.40 I'm at the town I wanted to go to for coffee. The place my SWMBO and I visited a few times was.... too sad looking. No outside tables. Too cold anyway, so i decided to head back and grab some coffe about 30 miles homewards. They have cute waitresses anyway. But alas! As I turn on the main road, about 6 bikes come from that direction and head towards the coast. I think I reckognized a few. To hell with it, I head after them.
1.20pm and still no coffee and the time to head back approaching. I turn off the road, flash the guys ahead goodbye. And I get my cup of coffee outside, with only some wind bringing the chills.

1.40pm I pay in cash, unsure if they take my credit card. Now I don't have enough to pay for highway/autobahn toll. To hell with it, back roads it is. At least I'm gonna see some good curves.
2.35pm and home. Almost as frozen as my grin. Get the SWMBO and home again to warm up. Yumyum. And I wanted to work on the bike that day. I guess It'll have to wait for rainy days. I'm happy, I got my coffee. Next time it'll be at the seaside.

The photo shows up, and it seemed like a GREAT way to spend a day. Living in California, it is a lot warmer. The rain has been falling a lot as of late, so my ride to work has been a drive until today. Now I know why I ride when I can! It does clear the head, and put a smile on ones face.

Crappy azzed weather here in Maryland also, 40s and about an inch (2.5 cm) of rain last night and this morning. Oh well the dirt will wash off before the next trip... I'm heading out for a ride now.
