have been reading here for some time about those who desire to put the fat chopper tire on a shaft driven xs or xj. i happened to catch an episode of biker build off last night. it was actually a pretty good one. wouldn't a similar set up to what they used on the triumph work on a shaft. im just a simple battery salesman so i will leave the mechanics to figure the logistics, but it seems once you hardtail the xs simply cut the shaft short. reverse the final drive to have the gears on the outside. fabricate a rod extender to another pulley. just like driving the axle but facing outwards. connect your belt drive to that and run your fat back tire from there. that way you can modify your frame to accept the biggest tire and rim you want. buckle you gear housing in a nice chrome cover and your off.
