  • Motorcyclists should be left to die . . .

I think this guy needs to hear some outrage.

Find out why...It's About the Ride.

Wow, kinda stupid. As an ER nurse by trade, I deal with that kind of stuff nightly. Just because you make a choice to ride does not mean you want to die. I guess that we should go on giving free healthcare to unisured drunk drivers, drug dealers, ect. All of those people made a choice to do what they do...

What about the responsible motorcyclist that are hit by the people on cell phones, putting on make-up, reading the paper. Should we let them die too?

I am not even sure what to write to this ****-for-brains. (sorry)

my understanding of the article is it was meant to mock the desicion of the states legislature to repeal the mandatory helmet law.
I learned to ride in Australia which has very strict laws regarding motorcycles. You cant even get on a bike bigger that 250 cc for 3 years! Helmets are mandatory. I belive that if youve got some brains youll want to protect them and if your smart and good looking, like me, you wear a full face helmet.

        Second bike is an FJR1300.

I think the auther of that article needs to get out of his SUV and get on a bike for about a month. I don't think he understands what riding is about and is judging something without knowing the facts. OR,,, He might be just looking for a bigger pay check and national recognition. Regardless, NOBODY should EVER be left on the road to die unless they are a petifial rapist. I do have an organ donor card and I hope that someone can benifit from my loss when I'm gone. But If I'm saveable that would be a good thing.

              Hey there Daniel,
I hope that the linked article was factual, or I am going to look pretty dumb to that guy.
I usually take time to do a little research before I jump-in with replies.
Today though, I had an unbelievably lousy day. After briefly reading the information about that editorial writer, I wasted NO time in firing-off a scathing e-mail.
It was kinda therapeutic. I think that I will keep his address handy.

I reread the article and I still say this guy is saying that the repeal of the mandatory helmet law is based on the belief by the lawmakers that although it will increase the incidence of deaths to motorcyclists, it will bring in motocyclists/ tourist dollars.
If you believe that a helmet does not provide any protection in the event of an accident then be outraged. But if you wear a helmet to reduce your chances of head trama then you should support his outrage at the repeal of the law, even if you dont like the way he stated it.
Are you for helmets or against?
Are you for helmet laws or freedom of choice?
                  What about seatbelt laws?
What about the fact that unbelted passengers and drivers sustain greater injuries compared to those who wear seatbelts?
And just for fun, how do you feel about your state tax dollars paying for the medical treatment of people who forgo their seat belt or helmet? What about the private hospitals who provide the emergecy care and are never reimbursed?
I personally have ridden without a helmet. but I dont think I would want to be in an accident without one. I have been in a car accident without a seatbelt, and I dont want to repeat it, even though I was relatively uninjured.
Just my 2 cents. Let the debate begin!

I am for helmets but that is my choice for myself. I don't need anyone to tell me that I have to do it. I feel the same way about seatbelts, although I didn't really start wearing mine until after I received a ticket for driving without it buckled.
I would rather have my tax dollars go to help someone who was in an accident, rather than go for the idiots who go to the emergency room for a cold or something even less of an emergency. My brother is an ER doctor and deals with people on a regular basis who come in because they know they will be seen and taken care of... but also know that they won't be paying for the services they receive.

                    Wow I love challenging posts!
I read the article and I agree with RUSH. It seemed, to me, that the writer was mocking the lawmakers. However, it also seemed that he has the same idiotology that was found in a state troopers recent comments regarding a motorcyclist who crashed on a twisty (and subsequently died). He figured that the kid was driving recklessly and had it coming.

Some people may do stupid things, but that doesn't mean their life is any less valuable.

I went through a click it or ticket check point in Oklahoma last year (in a car) and had a bicker behind me with no helmet. Thought it was kind of ironic....

                        Mike;
I also sent off a reply. I wrote it, and then read the article. I know he was mocking the state legislature, but I think he showed a lack of judgement. I have to admit I let him know he should be one of the first to get out of the gene pool!
And no, I didn't make any changes after reading his column.

I read the one about the 911 call yesterday too. I didnt really think to much about it, other than to be outraged and pissed off at the jerk. Hope they fired him too. After reading it today though I wonder, what made him say that? I mean he couldnt have been trained to say that and if he had an inclanation to being a jerk on the phone it should/ would have been found out earlier. How much time had he spent on 911 dispatch?
Im sure there is more to the story than what we're hearing. It just dosnt make sense that he would say that and hang up. They say his comment didnt affect the response time of the EMS. Is that because they were already dispatched? If so, someone else called in before his friend. Maybe they told him something that set him off against the biker and his friend.
I have been seeing a LOT of stupid stunts on sportbike around my hometown lately. There is even an outlaw video of bikers doing crazy stunts on the streets and highways of Seattle.
I dont know what happend to these guys but the officer had dispatched help. Why he said what he said to the friend of the injured biker? I dont know. Is he a prick for saying it? Sure.

P.S. Im not a cop. Dont like them on principal.
