W. Coast Rally revisited

Man have I been busy. Sent my daughter off to College, and had to move out of my residence of 17 years, and my shop, and my office and into a smaller place. It's remarkable how much stuff one can accumulate in 17 years. Took me 3 weeks to get back on-line, but here I am!
Back to the possibility of a West Coast Rally in a few months. Forget about doing laps at Laguna Seca. They are booked up for a year in advance, and they don't rent by the lap anyway: they rent by the day, and with insurance, maintenance, etc. it is a very expensive proposition! We could shoot for having a rally at the same time as the Superbike Championship races and making it to the races and Cannery Row (Monterey) as a group. It would look cool to have a bunch of XS's from all over the country parked together on Cannery Row on Bike Night.
I could arrange camping or motel accommodations in advance for anyone willing to RSVP: the parks and motels get kinda crowded around then
I also need to hear from folks in my neck of the woods (Santa Cruz CA) who might be willing to help stage such an event

I too have been "out of the loop" for a while.
I had offered earlier to help plan a Rally, if needed, and can still do so. Heck, that might be what it takes to get me back out there on my bike.
I haven't ridden for about 3 months.
My brakes didn't feel right the last time I rode, so I just never got back on it.
It's time to change some priorities, I think.

Don't I know it! I'm in the middle of a move from a house I moved into in 1987. Ugh! The good news is that the move is taking me to California where I'll be able to attend your event.

I won't be able to do that... just sold all my XSs (1 nice '79G, and two parts bikes). I'll probably come on a GS850L and hide among the Specials. Maybe nobody will notice!

I'll be living around Fairfield, near Sacramento. However, I could help out with a web page to keep track of XSpected XSives and plans as they develop. That is... after I move across the country and get settled! Let me know.

A West Coast/California Rally is a great idea. I've tried to link it to the Hollister Rally before without much success.
Is the KOA in Santa Cruz adequate for our needs? The Bozeman rally in that KOA was great! Any extensive setup requires a local contact or someone to haul everything in, like food, cooking equipment, ice/ice chests (Rob got a fridge!), so my thoughts have tended toward the KOA near Yosemite.
An "Around the Sierras" ride would be great! Or a Fresno-Monterrey-Morro Bay ride via Hwy 1 would be a great lond day ride. Anyone want to step up?

KOA near Yosemite.?!?! *THAT* sounds GREAT for a W.coast rally. (except Labor Day/early Sept - our youngest daughter is getting married in Spain...)

But late spring/Memorial day/early summer sounds perfect to me...
The scenery is perfect, the riding is some of THE best in "Can'tAffordYa", and it's NOT as cold as the coastal route in the Summer IMHO/IME - AND - not as crowded - it's usually bumper-to-bumper MOST of a 24hr period in the San Francisco Bay Area (our oldest daughter lives in S.F. and it's VERY difficult getting into/and out of the general area *MOST* of the time.)
