  • Am I on crack to even THINK of selling my XS-1100?

I rode her for 2 years and a friend wanted to get her test so she took her for a year and now has a pocket rocket and gave her back and I thought...jeeez, I'm in a Mercedes now, winter is coming down on us and she needs some work and I don't want to deal with it but...

...I've had a lot of different bikes and honestly this lil girl has been my favorite...stable, fast, 'roomy' with the cowling glove boxes and fiberglass saddle bags. But I'm about to sail to Hawaii to live for awhile and I'd have to store it at my sisters...so I thought about selling her for like $500 bucks even though she starts right up, rev-varooom...not rev-rev-cough-rev-coug-rev-varoom...just touch the starter button and pooof...running. Some NEW bikes don't even do that.

So am I a total idiot for putting this gem on the market?

I'd take it to Hawaii. It'll probably run even better there. Can't imagine a nicer place to ride a bike. If not someone here will probably like to take it off your hands.

I would assume that this "lil girl" you are talking about is an XS11. If you would post what year, model, condition, and location where she is, you will likely find someone who will love her, ride her, nuture her, and not strip her and auction off her parts on ebay. Even tho I get many parts from these abominable strippers, I cringe every time I realize that another fine, noble XS has bitten the dust. I have two runners now, but am not against aquiring another, if only to save it from the strippers. So, please post your info on this "lil girl", and hopefully she will live out her remaining life in the hands of someone who will treat her like the grand, loving, faithful lady she is. Thank you

Other than idiot, there are a number of adjectives that come to mind. Some can be print here, others can't. Seriously though, too bad you would have to get rid of it, but there are others that would be thrilled to ride her.

You are on Crack. Bad Crack. If you don't want it I'd be glad to take it off your hands for free.

            Well,

            His profile says it's a 79Xs1100, probably a standard!?

Yeah, ship it to Hawaii, Hepcat needs someone to run with on his XJ!! Just be nice and let him catch up every once in a while!

I agree; I'm stupid for selling it, let alone this low.

A guy said he wants it so he's getting it for $200 in South San Francisco...anyone here that wants a last chance on her, here's the forum/club to take care of her. Otherwise she goes off to somebody I hope takes care of her.

You must be in California. Sure wish I was close by. I'd take her off your hands for the $500.00 without hesitation and right now.

The more I spend time at this forum the less I want to sell the bike. The more I remember how much fun that bike is the less I want to let it go, but...

Don't do it. You'll buy another bike when you come back and you won't be happy. Let someone keep it for you in running condition, and you'll be a happy man again.

SOLD - ran great, peeled out of the garage with a tiny little punch on the throttle (helped that the floor was greasy) and the guy got my bike for $200 bucks (don't choke)...he was one happy camper. Sure I know not only did I get ripped off and will regret it down the road (already do), but things you don't use are junk and I didn't have the time to fix the taillights, fix the carb leak, electrical in the handlebars etc. man was he a happy guy.

We can only hope it went to another XSive and not a poacher who will part it out.
