  • Sidecar Rig For Sale

I have decided to sell my '79F sidecar rig. I bought a '85 VF1100 Sabre rig to replace it. Wasn't really planned it just kind of happened. So the XS has to go.

The bike and sidecar have been disassembled down to frames. Everything has been repainted. New tires this season all around. About 34,000 miles on the bike I think. Petcocks rebuilt, calipers and master cylinders cleaned, carbs cleaned, modified front end to reduce trail for easier steering with sidecar. Starts very easily. Has a slight tick when cold at 3-4000 rpms. Pulls the sidecar easily. Ready to ride. $2500 obo. Located in Rice Lake, WI.

I have another sidecar for sale.

Needs paint and windshield. Has a fixable crack in fender.

      $550

I would really hate to sell just the sidecar I have on the XS1100. Its a sin to split up a rig once they are joined.

I'm interested! Do you have contacts for the items i would need? If so, I'll look into it and see what its gonna cost me? What kind of brackets or other stuff would i need to allow my 80' XS Special to carry this?

Well I do have the brackets or struts that connect the sidecar to bike. What would be needed is the actual mounts on the bike. Here are some pics of the mounts I used.

The front upper uses a mounting point on the frame, usually used for fairing brackets. The front lower is a purchased item from Dauntless . The rear lower I had a plate cut out to match the original footpeg hanger but used steel instead of aluminum. The rear upper I also made but could also be bought from Dauntless. I know of another member here, Fredintoon, he also recently mounted a sidecar on a XS1100. He might chime in on how he mounted his. You can usually mount anything to anything but it always takes a little bit of purchased parts and some of your own or local shop fabrication to get it done. If you have more questions just let me know.

No problem. And since it would be going on a XS I do have another one of those steel footpeg hangers I would let go with it also.

Wow, I wish I had $550 to spend right now! I've always wanted a hack...

Where did you get yours? I'll be looking to get one down the road some time to put on my XS. The only other ones I've ever been able to find have been over $3,000.

Sidecars can be found anywhere. You just have to keep your eyes and ears open. Also helps when people know you are looking for them. I happened to pick this one up locally, saw it in a local paper. It came attached to a 77 Goldwing. I've decided to keep the wing but sell the sidecar. To many other sidecars right now. There are lots of decent sidecars to be had for less than $1000. Some of them might need a little work. Almost every sidecar is going to need paint to match your bike. Most also need a windshield, they always seem to be the first thing to break if someone has it sitting in the corner of their garage. Keep looking. Sidecars aren't just for geezers and fat ladies Here's proof. High Performance Sidecars
