  • A "Shoulda kept mine" story

Last night, my wife and I took a nice little cruise on the ol' XS and we stopped to get gas. As we were finishing up, a guy pulls up in a minivan and says that he spotted the XS from across the parking lot and had to come over and check it out! He tells us that he used to have an '80 XS11G but sold it. Since then, he says, he's been looking for another. "I should never have sold it...and I sold it for way too cheap." I notice that he has a helmet and a jacket in the passenger seat of the van, so I ask what he's riding now. He tells me that he just sold a Triumph, and he's now riding a Honda ST-1100. He says neither bike has the power, the speed or the fun of the XS11.

    Two morales to the story:

    1) Never sell your XS11.
    2) Love is forever with your XS11.

I almost had a heart-attack the other day at work (good thing I work at a hospital). Just as I was leaving a Harley pulled-up and parked next to me. A co-worker came over and was checking out the Harley. The burley old biker answered a few questions the co-worker had then pointed to my bike and said "now that's a motorcycle".
I wasn't sure I heard him right till he said he had an 80 XS1100 at home. I told him about this forum so hopefully he'll be showing-up.
